SAD DAY!

Hi friends, well after 16 months, I decided to sell my 2006 mini cooper S at
car max. They offered me 15,500 for the car. It has 31,962 miles on it and
everything is in tip top shape, new paintjob etc...As you all know by now, I
bought a 2008 Clubman in march of this year which is the main reason why I
decided to sell the other mini. I really hate to do it, but I am a single guy
and I live in an apartment complex, and it really makes no sense to keep 2 cars
as much as I love the 2006..it is really something I would rather not do,
but in the end it might be a good choice..I still will keep all my pixx's of
the 2006, as most of you can see on my web site at _www.myspace.com/bridgehorse_
(http://www.myspace.com/bridgehorse) . I really hope the person who buys
that car will treat it the same way and with the respect I treated it. It was
truly a great car!!

what do you all think?? did i make a mistake?

carmax, 'eh?? I think you can get a better deal going through autotrader.com

I've got some bites for $4k for my caddi I'm trying to sell when carmax will only give me $2.5k.... And KBB estimates it lowball for $5.

I'm not a fan of CarMax unless you NEED the cash RIGHT then and there.

We've had several MINIs in the past - it was always hard to let go at first. But each time we replaced one with a newer model, it just brought a HUGE smile to our faces once again. I don't think you will be disappointed with the Clubman...

If you haven't already done the Carmax thing - check out your local Craigslist. I was stunned at the response I got for my car - only placed the ad once but have had 10 calls on it and 3 offers already.

As odd as it might sound to some, I always start to feel very nostalgic about a week before I'm about ready to part with my MINI, too, but the good news is that you're soon to be adding a relative to your stable - the Clubman.

thank you for all of your responses. I really appreciate them and makes me feel alot better! I bought a clubman S 2008 and I am really having a great time with the car. I have 1.034 miles on the clubbie already and I only bought it march 7th...and yes I will be putting up pictures of her when I get my personalized license plate very soon and will put it up on my web site as well as the forum here in my gallery.

I have heard of some of the other car companies that do buy cars, but car max was the closest and more convenient place for me. I did not sell my 2006 for the money, I did it for practical purposes and for other reasons. I really miss the 2006, it took me through alot of driving. I really hope the person who buys it, respects her and treats her well as I did for almost 2 years.

thanks again for your responses!!

Drive a JCW GP and you'll quickly forget your "Royal Grey" requirement. That car is SWEET!

John Cooper Works GP. Limited edition R53 S MINI released in the year 2006. 2,000 JCW GP's were made for worldwide consumption and only 415 were imported into the United States. Still considered to be the fastest MINI Cooper S from factory. Body kit was assembled by Bertone in Italy. The car is lightweight, doesn't have a rear seat (2 seater). It has a 218HP Supercharged TRITEC engine, special JCW brakes, rear spoiler and other add-ons. Each JCW GP has a unique number in its roof. Made only in one custom color not availailable on any other MINI. The ultimate MINI for a single guy! One reason I will never get rid of my R53 S is the sweet sounding supercharger whine and the surgical scalp precise steering. Not to mention the looks...

thank you for your post! i will take this into consideration when I get another cooper. it's funny when you say one color because when I bought my mini in 2006, the royal metallic grey was only out in the mini's for a couple of weeks.

thanks again!

i really gave it alot of thought (more than anyone would imagine) before even considering giving up my 2006. I loved this car alot and will miss it alot too...i am really glad that i took plenty of pixx's of her so i can look back alot. it does not make any sense or practical purposes in keeping 2 mini's in an apartment complex and for a single guy like me right now. I know for a fact that I WILL get another mini in the not too distant future and considering my living arrangement. Another thing i did not like is when i bought my clubbie in march, the apartment complex only gives each tenant one reserved spot and was sometimes scrambling to find a spot for my mini 2006..

i am only hoping that whoever buys my cooper, that they respect it and take care of it..it was a special car to me!

let me ask you a question...do you have an apartment or a house??? i think many people who have apartments would keep just one car considering we have to park next to other cars in a lot and you never know who is insensitive and bangs their door into someones elses car..i am constantly looking out my window to see how she is doing, but now i just have one lady to look after..

I also live in a Condo with one spot but we have a second row of spots for owners with more than 1 vehicle. I love my R53 but I can perfectly understand what you had to let go of her. Just came back from driving the Clubman...this car rocks!

yes it was hard giving her up..it really was..even though the clubbie is amazing and great, i will never forget the 2006...i went to the mini dealer today to see what my options are to buy a new mini S in the fall, the only problem is they dont have the royal grey metallic anymore, it was a one year deal they said and i believe them, cause there were other colors on the mini that were just available for just a year, but no fear, the dark grey looks almost the same, which is what I will be buying in a few months in a mini S..i was also thinking about what you said on the john works, but i saw a model of it in the showroom, and it is not for me, i much prefer the mini cooper S..it has a great body and beautiful lady at that!! so will keep you and everyone else updated on my 3rd mini purchase from bmw mini vista....

If you are going to buy another Cooper S just like you had before, why did you get rid of it for the Clubman? The Clubman is cool but couldn't you have waited until you could have 2 cars to get the Clubman?

well at the time I bought my clubman was the time I was thinking of selling my car, took me a couple of months to make that decision to sell my 2006 and it was NOT an easy one to make. But when I finally got the car in the lot of my apartment complex, I really made a decision to sell the 2006, again, not for money reasons, but for practicality reasons only..I just want to make that clear to the forum. I really miss the car alot already which is why I decided to possibly purchase another mini cooper S, NOT RIGHT NOW, but sometime later this year. Maybe I did act too quickly to sell the 2006, but I can always get another one..the 2009 mini's will be out later this year, so maybe I can get a 2009 mini cooper S in dark grey (royal grey metallic is no longer)

its great that you bought a Clubman, but I am not sure why if you loved your MCS so much? and you are single and it was a fairly new car probably with plenty of warranty left. i am sure you have your own reasons ...

i would not fret though, the Clubman will probably grow on you in no time.
