Magic rear door

Has anyone had their rear door open "on its own"? I haven't been able to figure out if rear door button on the fob in my pocket is accidentally being pushed or if my neighbor who has a cabrio might be triggering the door. We are a Mini neighborhood, three and counting!

It's a little disconcerting to walk out to my car and find the rear door ajar. (Yes I know it is not "a jar" )

Thanks

Jim

I haven't had that issue. I know it opens if you hit the button or if you leave the key inside (comfort access), but other than that it should stay closed. How many times has it happened? And do you lock the doors?

Doors are locked.

It has happened three times in the last two weeks.

I can't tell if change in the pocket or or keys on the fob may be pressing on the rear door button long enough, when I am in range of the car, to trigger the opening.

I'll keep you posted.

Maybe the solenoid is defective and just triggers. I know when the battery is dead, you can't open those doors.

I would be making a trip to the dealer on that one and telling them to fix that 'jar'! LOL!!

Hum...a new and interesting issue....haven't had that happen yet...but we did have all the stuff we programmed go kaput's the other day....it was a pain to sit and re-program everything again... And the sunroof is acting up a bit. A few times it hasn't opened when you push the button. You have to push up on the sunroof first - then push the button and it opens...

its very likely that your key is being pressed against soemthing while in your pocket.

numerous times in my ole' MC I walked out of my office and found the windows halfway down (my office wndow was on the first floor of a brownstone with the car parked literally 30 feet away) ... the keyfob was pressing against something and it was opening remotely. not to mention that the remote has pretty long range.

solution:

looser pants

Not sure if it applies to the Clubman but Cooper owners have reported getting moisture in the switch on the boot handle, causing it to short and pop open. Could be a possibility with the Clubman as well.

Thanks for the replies
