aFe cleaning the filter

has anyone else with the aFe cai noticed that their filter is no longer blue? mine looks white-ish now and i've only had it on for 2,000 miles. i know it states to clean it every 30,000 to 50,000 miles but i was kind of surprised to see it wasn't blue anymore.

maybe it's normal though but, if the blue on the filter is oil and it's no longer blue wouldn't that mean the oil has evaporated? probably just me being OCD again. i hope.

thanks.

i have a K&N filter and when ive cleaned it the filter turns white because you wash the oil out is there any chance that your filter was exposed to exsess water?

luckily i re-oiled it but, i'm kind of bummed by that. especially the warning on the AFE box "NEVER use an unoiled filter". i may go back to stock. luckily i opened my hood for some reason and noticed it.

yeah i like the growl too especially combined with the megan exhaust. i solved the issue though, i ordered a dry s filter from afe for the intake so i don't have to worry about oiling it .

but, the fact that washing your car can allow water on the filter that bad is not a good thing IMHO. and i haven't even washed the undercarriage recently, it became unoiled just washing normally. through the front grill i guess.

so like how do you re-oil your aFe filter then? mine too has been white for some time lol.

and does re-ordering an aFe filter cost any money?
