Periscope Option?

Am I the only one who can't see the traffic signals when stopped at an intersection? Maybe the Clubman can be offered with a periscope option, or a "lookup camera", similar to a backup camera, only mounted in front! I find myself stopping 10 or 20 feet before a crosswalk just so I can see the light change, or I look out and up from the driver's window. I'm not overly tall (5' 10"), and I like my seat as low as possible, I don't know how anyone taller ever sees a traffic signal. Maybe I'll just wait for the car behind to honk. Here in NY, that's only about 1/2 second, anyway.

I've read in other threads that some folks have gotten the LightInSight to help with this problem. You might want to check out: http://www.lightinsight.com/

I've used one of these lightnsight options since my first MINI - they're great, they're cheap and all you do is stick them on the windshield/windscreen.

Hey, that's pretty cool. I might get one. Half the time, I use the moon roof to see the traffic light.

Thank you for posting that link. I've ordered one as well. This not only useful but a great conversation piece for anyone who rides with me.

I've installed the plastic lens on the windshield and I can seem to get the airbubbles out. Followed directions as stated on the instructions (via hard copy or online) but cannot feel satisfied due to the bubbles. What is the best way to install it?

Also make sure your seat is not adjusted too high. I am 5-10 and tend to have this problem when the seat is tilted to its highest setting.

At one time I was tempted to order this product but declined as I feel it is distracting while driving.

Perhaps seat too high and too far back?

Just try again - you should be able to get rid of those bubbles easily (try cleaning your windshield? I remember the first couple of times - back in '04 that I tried it I had some bubble issues but they quickly disappeared...can't remember what I did but it should not be difficult) The biggest key to this is where you put it. I am about 5' 9" and I have it right up along the top edge of the windshield so it's not even in my sight lines while I'm driving - but is only there for when I pull right up tight on a traffic light.

I have my LightInSight very high on the windshield, and even though I'm 6'2", I don't even notice it unless I'm intentionally looking at it.

As for the bubbles, I've found that they evaporate off by themselves within a week or so, similar to the tiny bubbles/hazing you sometimes get with new window tint or clearbra film.

My wife and I each got one for our MINIs . I put it at the very top edge of the windshield and towards the rear view mirror. It is not in my line of vision, unless I want it to be. Life is a compromise---this was not a very big one.

My Light-in-sight was distracting for the first day. Don't seem to notice it anymore. Very handy for those traffic lights hanging from a post right next to you rather than across the intersection.
