Roof scoop

Does anyone else think that this would be cool thing to have? It seems to have a built in valve for genral ventilation or a hook up for one of those air hoses. Granted you will have to ditch the sunroof and replace a large portion with something or cut a hole in your roof, but I've been wanting to ditch my sunroof for ages. It could look really good on our cars. I can't find pictures with the right angles to photshop it.

Yes, it is carbon fiber and a bit pricy at $325. It can be found here.

I would do one but it would have to have a height of something like the Orciari cowl scoop. Anything bigger and IMO would look ridiculous

It's just an idea. If anyone can find good photos to use in photoshop, please mock something up.

Looks to Fast & Furious IMO... (images of the green Eclipse come to mind ) Granted this would be more functional than the one on the eclipse or most of your ricers, but it would be towards the end of my mod-to-do list...

What about a JDM scoop from a WRX. When not in use it sits pretty flush with the roof. I'll try and find a pic of what I mean.

Here's a couple more.

Enjoy. I think that this could look very nice on the roof of a MINI. Very subtle.

5 Years ago I had done a photoshop mockup of such a thing, but I wanted to mount my Valentine 1 inside of it--you know they say that it should be mounted at the highest point, lol.

When I talked to Rogue Motorsports about a full carbon roof cap (still want to do one) he mentioned a sunroof scoop insert, a low carbon scoop that fit right in the sunroof hole. Thought it was a cool idea but I don't have a sun roof.

Someday I'd like to ditch the a/c system, this will come in handy then. But I just think it would look kind of cool.

Looks like a port hole out of a boat. There's got to be a better looking way than that. can you imagine the resale with that? "Whats with the port hole in the roof?"

Don't cut a hole in your poor mini for that.

I think it would be awesome! Ironically, I saw a modified Subaru sporting a roof scoop today. As for photoshoping a view, do you have an image of your car? Or was that your issue? If you don't have one I could use my MINI; CR/W. Or, tell me what your colors are and I can fish around for a closer match.

Resale? I plan on keeping this car till it falls apart and duct tape won't hold it together anymore.

I don't have any good images of my car. Just use what you have.

Odds are very good this will never get done to my car.

On the Suburu, that thing looks like a sunroof for a smurfmobile.

As for the general idea ? Blech.

If I was building a rally car a roof scoop would be something I'd want. Dressed up in nomex with a full face helmet on it gets mighty hot. On a street car it looks a bit goofy. Our MINI's are about as aerodynamic as a barn door & that is a nice way to introduce even more aero drag.

I vote not for me. You car though, enjoy.

...which isnt a roof scoop at all.

its all gonna be too fast or too furious for my tastes. rally cars have them because thats really the only place to draw fresh air that doesnt have mud or rocks in it. race cars dont go our of thier way to add aerodynamic drag, so they have window scoops. road cars have windows, and A/C

Thinking about this mod a'gain.. The only thing that would be cool would be the "Wave at other Mini's"

Think about it. Your windows are up. Your driving around and you see another Mini. What better way to wave then to stick your hand and arm out of the port hole in your roof?
