I am in the market for a Mini Cooper S, and I was just wondering what the adv. waiting period is to buy one? I was going to go to miniusa.com , and have a custom Mini made for me, so I would think the wait on this would be pretty high? Any info on this will help, Thank you

it up to where you are.
most east coast dealers has not very long or no waitning list at all. once your have ordered it usually takes about 6-8 weeks to get it (it depen on where your are, again.) average waiting is 6 to 8 weeks as i knoe from south east.

Go to search or ask your dealer will be the best way.

The waiting period was instituted by the federal government to prevent the new owner of a MINI from going out and actually driving after the purchace. This is an actual spinoff of the federal law preventing gun purchasers from being able to shoot for three days after buying a gun, Either way we are all safer and happier thanks to the "Cooling Off Period" Just be happy that ice cream hasn't made the "Cooling Off " list yet!!!

I'm going to go order my MCS on thursday at Tom Bush Mini in Jacksonville Fl and I know of no wait lis there. But over on the west at a dealer that sells at msrp the list could be 14 months long.

It really pays to do your homework. 6-8 weeks is the best I've found, but I found an '03 already in the pipe that I'll get in 4 weeks for MSRP plus shipping.

Also, this time of year is chancy because of the switchover from '03 to '04. The '03's are being finished up, then there may be a delay in order to change the assembly line to the new model, which doesn't have a lot of changes but still. I believe you can only order '04 models now.

Highest volume dealer with lowest wait time that I found is Mini of the Hamptons in NY. They have plenty listed on their website, and that doesn't even include the ones on the way.

6-8 weeks--

At MINI of Peabody in MA, it's 6 months for a Cooper and at least 8 months for an S.

In Salt Lake City it is about 2.5 months for a Cooper S. I ordered an S the end of July and I should see it in October. A year ago the wait list was 8 months long.

The Bay Area, CA lead times are coming down. Last year it was give me your money and wait 8-9 month for a Mini and 12 months for a MC-S. When I was checking recently They dealers were quoting October/November delivery of both. The dealer mark-ups were $1000 for a Cooper and $2500 for a Cooper S. One dealer was quoting no mark-up but 6 months for a Cooper and 12 months for a Cooper S.
