Drilled/Slotted Rotors for a Clubman?
I am going to replace the brake pads on my Clubman with organic pads. I am OVER the brake dust issue....and the car is only 3 weeks old. I've already found a company for the pads and I'm thinking of pulling the rotors too and replacing them with cross-drilled rotors while I've got the wheels and calipers off. Any one know who makes these rotors for a Clubman?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
I guess thats what happens when I try to cook dinner for the kids AND post up a thread!! Obviously I can't walk and chew gum either! LOL!I meant I will be going to CERAMIC brake pads on the Clubman!
Thanks for the heads up hemiheaded18!

I was looking for improved heat dissipation, which I was under the impression added life to the pad and the rotor.
Do non blank rotors cause the pad to wear faster?

What I've been hearing is the serious folks wont use cross drilled rotors for several reasons.
1. Drilling creates stresses that cause cracks when used hard.
2. Drilling removes mass, so less metal to absorb and store heat.
3. With modern pads, the outgassing rationale for drilling is gone.
Now days, cross drilled rotors main function is to impress 14 year-old girls.
Slotted rotors may be good for wet and dirty environments, but not that helpful otherwise. The serious racers seem to like solids.
The brakes on the 2007+ MCS are the JCW brakes of the R53. So, there isn't a lot of need for an upgrade.
I know all this to be true because I read it on the internet.
I've also been looking for replacement pads to reduce dust, and resist fading (not that I've run into that problem yet). The names that have come up are Hawk HPS, and Bobcat 1521. I don't know much about them yet.

And you'll be able to pick up 14yr old girls too...let's not go there.
I really don't need a 14 year old to tarnish my clean record, so it looks like I'm stayin' away from slotted rotors!!

But seriously, thanks for the info on the rotors. I will stay with the stock ones.
The pads I am interested in are from Carbotech. Anybody hear anything about their quality?
Thanks again!
