Has anyone ordered or seen a "stripper" Mini
It sounds like most on the forum have loaded up with options, but has anyone seen or ordered a completely base Mini? The options are appealing, but they seem to drive the cost out of my range.
Will the dealers let you special order one? I think the only option I would buy would be the auto transmission.
I could be wrong, but I don't think resale will allow you to get much back on the options.

I saw a base level 2007 Mini at the dealer when I was looking for my Clubman. It looked fine to me.
My opinion, and only an opinion, is the standard clubman interior has too much grey. So I would say that If you had an extra couple hundred dollars, I would look at one of the interior options, like the piano black or one of the color trim lines. I have the rooster red with piano black and it looks great. I bought the black punch leather seats because I like leather seating, but honestly it looks almost exactly like the the vinyl seats that come standard.
I bought a sunroof - certainly don't need to have that. And the standard wheels look better in person than on the configurator, and the $750 wheels I bought look better on the configurator than they do in person.
The toughest choice money-wise to me was the body color selection. With only 4 non-metallic colors, you had better like black, white, yellow or red since any other color will cost you an extra $500.
So my advice, $500 on the interior and fall in love with a non-metallic body color.

Mine's not a stripper by any means but I did forego all of the package options because I've survived without them thus far and am happy to go aftermarket for the stuff that's missing (NAV/XM for eg.). the Auto is a concession to my wife who wants to be able to park the Benz Bus when not ferrying more than herself or 2 kids and refuses to learn to drive a stick. Ordered 3/23 - estimated build date, mid May.
CC-S - DS/S, hi-fi, MFSW, armrest, auto, bluetooth/ipod, xenons, 16" bridgespokes - stickers at
$27,850.
I tried to spec the quaife but didn't realize it wasn't available w/the auto transmission.
I may check into Copywrites' interior suggestions before they start building it - none of my test drives were in stripper models to my knowledge and I'd hate to be disappointed.

By all means you can order a base Clubman - that's the great thing about being able to choose what you actually want.
Not too long ago I listened to a White Roof Radio program in which they discussed resale values regarding the extras...and even those these guys - who love their options - seemed to agree that generally certain options don't enhance resale.
Buy what you want and what you can afford - you'll have a great time.

Even without any options its still has all the features you really need, but not necessarily those you want. As long as you're fine with a stripped down MINI, go for it. You'd definitely have to order it though because I doubt there are any dealers that would actually have one in stock.
My Cooper was bought off the lot and it only had the cold weather and premium package so it pushed the price up $2k but I'm glad I have the extra luxuries (especially the sunroof, auto air, and multi function steering wheel) and I don't really need anything more. However, because I want an MCS with JCW, I'll probably be making some changes in the near future.

Our Clubman S is also a "stripper". Only options are automatic transmission, rear fog light, metallic paint (Hot Chocolate), MFSW and iPod adaptor. The rest is standard issue Clubman S. Total $26,200 and lovin' every minute of it.
all 4 MINIs (including this one) that we have owned have been "strippers" and the cars have managed to turn heads and provide mile after mile of smiles.
You'll be interested to know that "stripper" MINIs have better resale values than fully loaded ones.

My 07 S has only sport suspension, nothing else. It was one of the R-56 intro cars.
We ordered the Clubbie S with automatic, multifunction wheel, cold weather, and auto wipers/lights. Not a lot, but VERY functional.

metallic paint is overpriced (most other brands its a $300 option)
arm rest is a $250 joke and isnt even that functional (trust me I have it - would have rather put that 1/2 way towards LSD)
MSFW - should be standard - come on ... controlling cruise control w/out it?
BEST DEAL: the choc brown cloth / leather combo that comes with cream white color line and piano black trim - all for $1000
that's my beef IMHO.
I don't think i've ever seen a stripper MINI, I don't think there's quite enough room to do a routine in there
Anyways, yes, I'm pretty much ordering everything standard except for the cold weather package, interior trim, PDC, xenon, and dimming rearview.

P.S. With those options, I'm not sure that I'd call this one a "stripper".
Essentially a total stripper: Clubman; non "S;" Pepper White/black roof; 6 speed Getrag; Black/gray vinyl. One single, solitary option: Armrest.
1606 miles. Perfect car; Zero rattles; hold tight; Never, NEVER less than 43.6 mpg freeway. City driving hovers close at a fraction under 30mpg. I did not want the roof; I did not want run flats under any circumstances. My "Clubperson" runs smooth; solid; and ultra quiet, perhaps due to the standard 15 inchers. I miss one single option: Cruise control - since I do much freeway driving. Love this car.

Yeah, even if you do the "stripper" MINI try to at least get the MFSW (Cruise control and radio buttons) because now days a car without cruise control is simply put, a hard sell. Also the cruise control helps me keep my speed on check, save gas and avoid speeding tickets.
Non-cruise steady footer here. . .
I guess I must have a super steady foot, eh? Miss the cruise . . .and I really do NOT drive as though I'm going for high mileage. My gas mileage figures are staggering, at least to me. I do try to get the "Clubperson" in 6th when on freeways - which is essentially an overdrive. The only other possibility is that the onboard computer is off a bit? I never do mileage checks manually. With the extra size gas tank on the Clubperson, I seem to get 500+ miles per tank. Fun factor is what motivates me . . .Can't wait to get into this car each time.
Back when I bought my first new car, a 1978 Subaru, they had three trim levels.
GL = loaded
DL = some upgrades
and, the Red one.
I think it was called the 'Standard' but the dealers all called it the 'red model'. No radio, no carpet just rubber floor mats, only color it came in was red as you might have guessed by now.

mini stripper
I have a Non-built up mini...
2007 r56 S
Auto
MFSW
no other "otpions"
i'm very happy with this car, i paid $22,000 for it new from Mini in Atlanta.
the only thing i think would be nice is the Xenon for cool effect - no actual purpose.
i installed my after market Sirius sportser 5 in the box below the AC controls.
The automatic AC controls are terrible, its quicker and easier to just use the manual ones so i'd not get the automatic even if they were free.
