Every time I get out of the car, I have to consciously make sure the seat belt clicker slides up the seat belt into the seatbelt assembly... it doesn't do it automatically.

When I forget to do that, the natural position for the seatbelt clicker seems to be halfway up the seat. The problem is that when it is halfway up the seat, when you shut the door, the clicker jams between the seat and the door... causing the seat to suffer wear.

Has anyone else noticed this... and if so, has anyone managed to find a way to fix the issue?


Also... I posted this in another post, but got no response... is there anyway to program the car to shut down completely by only pressing the shutdown button once?

 

I believe there is a clip which you can raise to keep the "clicker" from sliding down the belt. Examine the lower part of the belt.

As for the Start/Stop button, it works how it works (you cannot reprogram it). BMWs work the exact same way. You'll have to get used to it.

Yeah, I noticed that when I got the car... but then I saw the clip.

 

The seatbelt in my '07 MCS annoys me. My door is all scratched up from pulling it past the seat. I have to remember to grab it before I close the door, or open the door again when I pull it. There's no way I can remember to "put away" the latch when I get out of the car.

 

BMW makes guides that slip on the two supports for the headrests, then has a loop where the seat belt threads through, so the belt and buckle hug the contour of your seat. I purchased mine from I believe Moss Mini, but if not them it was one of the main after-market suppliers. The cost was $39.95.

They work great.

If you're tall and put the seat back all the way they don't work at all. When your shoulder is nearly inline with the B-pillar the guide ends up behind the anchor which cause twists in the belt and the guide flies apart when you attempt to pull out the seat belt. I can see these being helpful if you leave the seat more forward on the rails.

 

I will second that, NAM has helped me ALOT!

 

That was one of my complaints. Almost every time I try to buckle up, the "clicker" is wedged in between the door and the seat. Great tip!

As an owner of several MINIs and a potential Clubman S owner, what is a seatbelt "clicker." ? I've never heard the term before; and don't have any scratches on my door from reaching back and pulling the belt across me to latch it.

I have the exact same problem and like everyone else would like a solution for it.

The solution is:

When you are in the car, seatbelt on, look down at the lap belt. You'll see a grey plastic peice that is attached to the belt. Slide it to your right towards the tongue (described as a clicker earlier). Now, when you release the tongue from the buckle and it retracts, the tongue will not be allowed to fall far enough to get caught between the seat and the door. Some adjustment may be needed to get it perfect, but you should have the idea.

What surprises me is that the seatbelt doesn't have a height adjustment on the door pillar. This is standard on many cars, including many "economy" cars. I would have expected it on a MINI. It makes the seatbelt fit better, so it works better. As such, it's a safety feature that should be on every car!

 

It really doesn't work at all if your seat back is behind the B-pillar.

 

How do you get the headrest out to put the guide on. I have tried everything I can think of and can't get it loose. My guess is there is an easy trick and I just don't know it.

 

the guides are crap. they come apart when you fold the seat forward. don't waste you money
