Bad Gas In Vegas After AMVIV?
Did anyone else that filled up at the Terrible Herbst Chevron on Sahara (Down the street from the Palace Station) after AMVIV experience any issues with crappy gas milage or pinging? I've already heard from 7-8 people that have had MAJOR issues after filling up there. 2 confirmed blown motors.
In fact, i'd advise anyone that did get gas there to either siphon it out or dilute it with some higher octane (Race) gas.

I got gas on Sunday, before we headed back to LA. The people I filled up with all had issues, and I've heard a few other people talking about issues with bad gas mileage and crazy pinging.
I filled up there on Saturday before the Charleston run. No problems.. Wait I did get a po136 code yesterday (2nd o2 sensor), after filling up in Beatty, should have burned thru all of the "terrible" gas by then.

People have had major issues with their cars, I'm trying to compile a list of people that had problems so we can go to the station and say "Look, 10 MINI's on the way home all had issues with detonation, and a few even had catastrophic engine failure as a result, you need to make this right".
We already know of at least 2 MINI's who have had engine failure's as a result of detonation from filling up at this station.
There seems to be a direct correlation between the quantity of gas filled up and the level of issues.
For example, one car that only put in half a tank only had minor pinging, other cars that filled up a full tank had cracked rings and broken pistons.
The station was filling up their tanks when we filled up, so that definitely increases the chance that water got into the tanks somehow, and/or something was stirred up.

Water? In Vegas?
There would be an extra charge for that!

In all seriousness, people having to shell out 3-6k for a new engine isn't a joke.
That totally sucks...
good luck getting restitution. They will probably say "we'd be happy to give you a tank of gas for free, but driving after the problem was notices is what killed the cars"....
Either that or they'll say "eff off!".
I hope the best for all.

Cripes!! I topped off there before leaving Sunday morning, but it was only about 2 1/2 gallons. Most of my tank was still fortified with that gallon of toluene I dumped in on Friday. Maybe a good thing! I had absolutely no pinging on the trip home, but a couple tanks later, I can get it to ping sometimes if I floor it. Not that I'm trying to...
Sounds like as Longboard speculated, there was water in the gas. We'll keep putting information together. I doubt we were the only ones to have this issue, there were other cars that came in to that station and filled up.
The gas is so far diluted now I doubt it'd mean anything.
The problem is that most people drove 300+ miles home after getting gas, so the gas in the tanks isn't all from the first station. The engine failures happened later.
Yup, thanks.
That sucks Nick. We are so sorry to hear about it. We pulled in there before leaving to top off the water after the fan repair. The water line was broken and Kelli said she didn't want gas there because the truck was still there filling up the tanks so we skipped it. Lucky for us.
