"Ghetto" Minivations..

Hey. My names David and i've owned my mini for about 10 mo.s, and of course i love it. Yet i've had to figure out how to do alot of these mods (tails, splitter, and blackout tape) myself for lack of cold hard cash.

So i thought id post a couple pics of my quick fixes.

$10 splitter

Rubies.

Happy Motoring

What did you use for the tails? And is the splitter from Home Depot?

Sorry, i didnt want to bore people if they werent interested.

The tails are oracal red tint, which i ordered off ye olde internet from a sign company for relatively cheap ( i have tons more for those interested ).

The splitter is "Garage Door Bottom Sealer" and yes, it bought by the roll at home depot, then i applied it with 3M double sided and about 8 screws with washers. Total cost is around 10 bucks (so if ruined...who cares...).

If you guys have annnny questions, feel free to contact me and ill be more that happy to help.

Another of the front lip:

That is a great photo. I think I will be going to home depot soon. if it keeps its color and doesnt fall off, the splitter looks great.

Is the home depot splitter made of soft foam? Or does it have some thickness to it. Know what I mean? Thinking of something that goes under a garage I would assume its soft and used to seal the elements out. I think it looks cool but if it's just squichy foam stuff I think it would get tore up quick.

I think that it is pretty soft. But not to the point that it would get torn up. It should be pretty resilient to the elements.

It's more of a lip than a splitter but still looks good and for $10 you can't really complain!

i also found out just exactly what the "black out" belt line tape is.

total cost on that is about $22 dollars shipped for 150 ft of it. Sure beats the $21 paid for just enough to do the car (if its done correctly). So i was able to get everything perfect and still enough to do a small fleet of coopers.

Where did you get the tail light material. I've been looking for a cheap alternative and can't figure out what the specific color is. I had a cheap kit for another car that worked great, but it didn't specify the color. I'd like to use a 3M Scotchcal or something of that grade so it lasts a long time.

Tail light film was from a Company Orafol, the product name is Oracal and the color is Red.

Hope that helps
