R50/53 37 degrees chime
37 degrees chime
Hi to everyone.
I bought a 2005 S last fall and just LOVE it (especiallly since the Honda dealer didn't have a clue and priced it out as a base Cooper!)
It spent the Illlinois winter in the garage, but I have driven it on a few cold mornings when the roads were clear. I noticed when starting out on cold mornings that it chimes once, switches the digital display to temp and "37" flashes. Everything else is normal. Is that just it's little way of protesting and letting me know it would rather be someplace warm?

(above info is correct)
Yup, Lewis lets me know when it's cold so I'm prepared when I get to work.
Actually, it's weird when it works and doesn't... if it stays below 37, he doesn't say anything. If it's above 37 and drops, then he'll show me his snowflake and tell me to be careful. If when I shut him off it's 38+ and then it's 37 or below when I start him up, he tells me how much nicer it was the day before.
Last fall I was a little worried that he'd tell me about it every morning that it was below 37 and it'd get old, but I've only started hearing/seeing it again now that the temperatures have been fluxuating above 40 again.

Thanks to everyone for the info. In other great news, the slow tire leak was the valve stem that was replaced for $5. Along the way, I found the clock in the speedo and, thanks to this forum, I was able to set it.
Don't tell the wife or boss because "Sorry I'm late, no clock in the Mini" is a GREAT excuse to add a few more miles to the trip.
