Armrest for my Clubman

Hi guys,

I've been wanting to retrofit my clubman with with a nice armrest. Any ideas if this one would fit my clubman??? Or would I need to get the one that bolts on to the seat tracks? Thanks in advance!

as silly as it sounds, the armrest from the Connivence package was #1 on my priority

Is there a nicer after market one? (new to this stuff)

That is the OEM armrest. I had it in my 2007 MCS Coupe. I ripped it out because it really annoyed me. The top does not stay closed. It is in the way for manual shifting (for me). It doesn't fold back far enough to be out of the way. It came with the Bluetooth package, but there are no inserts for my phone. At the time, the only inserts were for outdated phones. Now there is an insert for the iPhone, but that's about it.

I've heard that this armrest is better, but I have no experience with it.

The supports don't look very robust to me, so I wonder how solid it will be?

I have to agree with Robin. That armrest came in my Clubman with the connivence package and it sucks. Won't stay closed and it doesn't hold very much. What it does hold slides to the back and the opening isn't huge and makes getting the stuff at the back difficult. The phone part is right, the iPhone is about the only current model available. I have the iPhone, and wouldn't use it with the armrest unit. I say this because there is already the iPod jack and Bluetooth in the car that work well with the iPhone if you have the connivence package, which it the way most people get the armrest since it is include in that package.

The one that Robin is showing in the link is the older model (pre-'07) I believe. Has a much larger pocket with a button latch to keep it closed. I've heard that it is at a better height too. Every thing I've read says it will fit the Clubman. I'm seriously thinking of ditching my current armrest for the older one.

I wish I knew more about it before I ordered... it was (sounds stupid, I know) one of the most important things to me in the connivence package

I'll see how annoying it gets after a few hundred miles

Does that armrest go any higher up than in the picture?
I would think it could interfere if not.

Hey guys, just wanted to post an update about adding the armrest for my clubman. I went got the bolt-on armrest from outmotoring. It was relatively easy to install it and I must admit that it actually looks good. I will post some pics of it later for those who are interested in installing/changing their armrest.

This is the one I got:

That is the one I had installed in my Clubman S. It seems much 'sturdier' that the OEM version. Very glad I went with this one.

It's just the right height for my right elbow, too.

Robin Casady, I was at two Mini dealers and they told me that there was no iPhone armrest insert at this time. Do you have any further info on it?

For those of you who just got the "other" arm rest (pictured in post #8), is it higher than the one that comes with the convenience package? I have my seat at the highest setting and my armrest is a bit too low for comfort. I am not short (6') but I like to sit high.

In for the outmotoring install pics. I test drove a Clubman and I noticed the armrest wasn't where I really wanted it.

Me as well. I'd like to see how upright (and out of the way) it can be positioned.

Mine has the first one and it works perfect. I don't like the bigger one...

Found an armrest on Ebay, looks like a sizable storage and the pics show it fitting in nicely. For me, size matters in cabin storage.

There's been a few threads on this armrest. Many hate it, many like it. I think it depends on your arm length. Mine is in just the right position. My hand falls right onto the shifter with my elbow on the armrest, which sits at the perfect height. I use it all the time and never have it pushed back.

Redline offers a leather cover for the OEM one that can be had with extra or extra-extra padding, which would increase the height a bit...

I'd still like to see one of them in person to see how out of the way it is when it's folded up.

What's been the experience of folks who have a manual shift and any of these arm rests? Are you finding the arm rest gets in the way of manual shifting?

Well, I got that arm rest from Out Motoring.
It does not fold all the way up like my Beetle's but everything else about it is great.

elbow rest

I've got the arm rest in my clubbie. It does not interfere with the shifting. Like some people say, it has a tendency to open up on it's own. I may end up glueing the unit closed.

overall, very happy with it.
