Any descent tint shop should be able to remove the roof and tint it for you ... Look at tinted cars in your area and ASK who did it ...

It's far far easier to unbolt it instead of trying to tint upside down ...

Sunshield Glass Tint in Van Nuys did a great job on my car. Talk to Hamid over there. AND....they didn't take out my roof.

DO you mind I ask how much did it cost you? Also, any pictures? Does it really make a great difference in heat? Feel free to PM me

Thanks

You don't need to remove the roof to tint it... any good shop can tint it with the glass in place. I'd never trust a tint shop to remove my sunroof.

Should be under 100 to tint the sunroof only. I paid 120 and change for 3m tint on my front, rear, boot windows about a year ago.

For those of you that did your Sunroof Tint, how effective is it? Does it make a BIG difference?

Thanks

Another suggestion for the folks over @ sunshields. Hamid busts his butt for repeat business. And it shows.

He did my MCS 2 years ago, and jsut did my g/f's MCS. His work is great, and the price is the cheapest you'll find. All 5 windows, I want to say was $125. not sure how much more for the sunroof, but I wouldn't be surprised with $40.

If you go there, try and get a lunch appt, and walk up the street to Pineapple Hill Saloon. It is about 2 blocks south of Hamid's, at the far end of the strip mall that has the In-N-Out Burger. That bar has the BEST burgers, and the staff is incredibly friendly. No beers on tap though, bottle only.

Huge difference, highly recommended. Hamid (see above) put 5% on the sunroof. It's pretty dark now, not real easy to see though, but much cooler, and no sun in the eye's. $60 for sunroof, I did all windows and roof for $200.

If you're concerned about heat transfer as I am/was, look into getting the Huper Optik ceramic tint. I did all five windows and both sunroofs for ~$400, which is expensive compared to "regular" tint but well worth it. The benefit is that about half of the heat is rejected compared to regular tint where more of the heat transfers through.

Here's a link to check out the heat details:

The guy who did my windows is in Santa Ana and is Salvador Dena of Perfect Window Tinting at (714)546-1002.

Enjoy!

Prost,

I have had all my vehicles (10 cars) in the past 8 years tinted by the folks at XLNT Tint in Anahiem. I am extremely **** about my cars and only expect the best job. When I got my Mini I had 5% in the rear and 18% on the front two windows (a little too dark on the fronts) recommend 38% to avoid a fixit ticket. I also had my sunroof done 5% what a difference. I got tired of the heat getting through and burning my scalp. Its been a while but I paid $265 (don't quote me on this) for all the windows except the front windshield with 1x replacement warranty incase I get a fixit ticket. I forgot to mention they don't remove your sunroof. Hope this helps you decide. Its a good investment.

Agreed. I've heard nothing but great things about that shop and Sal. I'm going to get mine tinted tomorrow. Pictures and pricing to follow.

Tint World down in San Diego is pretty good. I had them tint my car in Florida and it is the same owner.
