Throttle cable

So, my throttle cable apparently was broken or something of that nature when I got the car, the guy that I got the car from said he "fixed" it by putting a bicycle cable in its place. For obvious reasons I want to get this taken care of, its a 96. How do I know which cable to get? ALSO, do I need an O2 sensor for it being fuel injected and all?

Throttle cable

I can't speak to a 90+ car but for my 79 a throttle cable is one of those things I've decided to keep as on hand spares...

It looks a lot like a bicycle brake cable .... if the ends fit and the length is close I'd see no reason to change it....

it sticks, when I push in the clutch it keeps revs up there, so I push in let out and when it grabs and wants to obviously bog the motor I push the clutch in to bring it down to more of an idol. The reason I ask about the cable at all is when I was looking on MiniMania the cables range from 9.95 top 75.00.. Id rather not waste any money, if I HAVE to get the 75.00 one than I will if there is no other solution... I just want to make sure Im getting the right one...

my reply was prefaced with a pre Mpi warning.....

Since you are unsure, it is best to simply call Minimania (with your VIN & other ID info) and discuss what is available. They'll certainly get the right one for you.

BTW, examine the installation of your current cable and make sure there are no tight curves that can bind the cable in the housing and that the ends are installed correctly into the mounts.
