My Custom intake 2003 MINI Cooper (Good or Bad?)

Hey guys this is the custom intake I made for my 2003 MINI Cooper. The materials are a small cone air filter, dyer tube, and a wire. I have before and after pics of the inake before I moded it with the dryer tube. You guys think this is an effective mod?

Hey there,

Your idea isn't bad, but I would try to find a bigger aluminum tube.
I'm sure you can find one with a bigger diameter so that the entire filter fits in it.

Or, you could cut the original top of the stock airbox open and try to fit the filter inside the airbox.

Another option would be, adding another connection piece to the flexibel tube to make sure the filter fits completely inside the airbox (this would be the easiest solution and in my opinion the better one).

Your last option would be a new intake

Kind regards

pretty smart setup but i agree with Der Abt find a bigger tube to cover the intake so you car will breath in more air. check these set ups might help you decide..

Check out some local tuners, they have a lot of tubes and connection pieces in their stock. You could also try to find one at home depot or a store like that. I remember seeing many aluminum tubes with bigger diameters there.

Kind regards

You may find something here: http://www.sfxperformance.com

They have a lot of useful intake parts.

Not a bad idea at all, mate. Realisation can be refined though, as someone already suggested.
