Anyone Have any Info On these Rotors

Saw these on E-Bay and wondered if anyone had any info on these rotors?
Good or Bad?
I am proud to say I am new to the Mini world, as of December.
I was heavy into the Miata tuning and I just de-tuned a 200+whp to give to my 17yo son.
I really enjoy the NAM site and look forward to posting more.
Any help on the rotors would be appreciated.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MINI-...spagenameZWDVW

Never heard of them...as far as brakes go...I'd go with a trusted brand seeing as they are extremely important...a little extra money may be worth the safety

Brake Rotors

Most off brand rotors are inferior...perhaps they look ok physically but there are other factors involved such as heat dispersion etc.etc. A lot of the crap on Ebay is made in China but so are many of the OEM parts: key here is to what specification are they manufactured ? Point is if they are manufactured in China or India, for example, under the banner of an OEM oversight then you at least have some confidence that they are ok.

Frankly, brake components are the first things you should not look for a bargain. I have probably owned 50 cars and motorcycles over the years and have been-there-done -that. When it comes to brakes, buy only factory replacements or well known replacements (e.g. Brembo) and upgrade parts.

FYI, I agree.. do not go for bargin aftermarket on brakes. The EBAY site I posted is actually a MINI dealer selling original Dealer parts at a significant discount!!!

Those rotors will crack
Any rotors that are drilled are garbage, don't buy drilled. Unless you do any track events, theres no reason to buy slotted, either.

Your right about drilled but wrong about slotted. Anyone can benefit from slotted rotors as even daily/highway driving creates intense heat....

I'll dissagree with you on the drilled cracking issue.
If the drilled rotors are chamfered (Countersunk more or less) they are not as prone to cracking.
I have drilled and slotted rotors from Moss on my Miata (driven Hard) for 10-15k 200+whp and have had no issues with cracking.
The OE rotors are too soft and ware fast.

Chamfering certainly helps, but only if you chamfer both ends of every drilled hole. That's easy on a solid rotor, but normally not addressed in ventilated rotors. In a ventilated rotor it is difficult if not impossible to chamfer the the inside ends of the drilled holes (the end that's inside the vanes). This leaves sharp edges that are prone to cracking.

TAKEN FROM THE STOPTECH WEBSITE....

Which is better, slotted or drilled rotors?

StopTech provides rotors slotted, drilled or plain. For most performance applications slotted is the preferred choice. Slotting helps wipe away debris from between the pad and rotor as well as increasing the "bite" characteristics of the pad. A drilled rotor provides the same type of benefit, but is more susceptible to cracking under severe usage. Many customers prefer the look of a drilled rotor and for street and occasional light duty track use they will work fine. For more severe applications, we recommend slotted rotors.
