Difference between "sports package" and "regular" suspension?

What is the difference in the suspension in a 2005 R50 with the "sports package" and the regular suspension?

No difference. The sports packages for R50/R52/R53 included NO upgrades to the suspension (must be ordered separately).

Specifically for the R50:
  • DSC
  • rear spoiler
  • front sport seats
  • front fog lamps
  • 16" wheels + runflats
Yeah, not really much "sports" about the package. Xenons not included for the R50.

Are you asking about the "Sport Suspension" option vs the standard suspension? Or the complete "Sport Package" which includes the "Sport Suspension" option?

I was wondering mainly about the suspension, but it is good to know about all this stuff. I guess now I will be looking forward to getting at least a sway bar. Just for a reference (and without doing tons of searching) what is the standard r50's sway bar diameter?

Thanks for all the help. It's great to finally have a MINI!

That's not entirely true.

The R50 Cooper with the stock SS (Sport Suspension) could be upgraded to the SS+ (Sport Suspension +) that comes stock on the R53 Cooper S. It was an option, although I don't recall whether the option was included in the Sport's Package.

Not sure if that's what you were asking...

The original question was about the "Sports Package". It includes the items I listed above, i.e. no suspension upgrades.

There is a completely separate option (NOT included with the Sports Package) called "Sport Suspension Plus", which includes stiffer sway bars, springs, and dampers. Sport Suspension Plus was standard on the R53 and optional on the R50.
