Remote Starter

Hi folks

I know this has to be already discussed, but my google-fu is weak today, and i cannot find any concrete information.

I'd like to put a remote starter in my 05 MCC with a stickshift.
Does mini offer a mini-certified remote starter? Something that will check to see if the car is in gear, fake the clutch switch, and start the car?
Similarly, i would like the system to not cost me a key and defeat the immobilizer (some aftermarket systems require you to literally stuff a key into the steering column.)

Sorry for what must be a repeat post.
Regards,
Eric

They have manual transmission safe starters.

I know of no BMW or MINI authorized remote starter and have never seen one that "fools" the clutch switch and can tell if the trans is in neutral. Most remote starter installs on manual transmission cars simply bypass the clutch switch (which some owners like as it reduces wear on the throw-out bearing by allowing you to start the car without disengaging the clutch. I'm sure you're aware of this (it's pretty much common sense) but just to be safe for anyone else who may read this, make sure the vehicle's parked in neutral before using one of these systems.

Sorry, I'm not 100% up to speed on what's out there for remote starts these days and what interaction there is between the MINI's security systems, any aftermarket sercurity system you may have, the remote starter, and the vehicle itself so I won't be of much help there.

I have no security system, but i do like having the immobilizer. Also, i like having two keys, and not having to kludge one into my steering column. I don't leave the car in gear when i park.

No remote starter that is Mini Certified. Your best bet is that Compustar link. I have two of them (both autos) and they are very high quality starters. They also have the best range and warranty. But... be prepared to pay for what you get. Very expensive and can only be installed and warrantied by an authorized dealer.
