I thought this thread could use a little bump...

So?! What are your plans for this years MOTD?

Do you have enough time to do all the things you want to do?
Are there any schedule conflicts that will keep you from attending one event or another?

Hmmm... let's see

Wednesday- Leave after the cherubs get on the bus and hopefully get south of Lexington.

Thursday-
Drop by McKay Used Books, then arrive at the Dragon and check in.

Friday- Dragon Parade & lead Heinzelmannchen Brewery Run, Lunch at Nick & Nates, leisurely drive back with maybe a stop in Waynesville.

Saturday- Panoramic Photo, MINICCI Picnic, Geocaching Meet & Greet, and Midnight on the Dragon (probably hanging out at the overlook taking pictures)

Sunday- Pack up to head home

Monday- Celebrate 18 years of marriage

Fill in all open time with geocaching, hanging out with friends (new & old), washing Tink, and being a general public nuisance.

What are your plans for MOTD

Well, experience my first full week at MOTD. Last year I was just there for the weekend. Meet some great MINI people and make some new friends. Also, see which exhaust I want to buy for my MINI Cooper S! I want to see what each exhaust sounds like and then buy it up! (so hopefully some people will be nice enough to let me hear their car!) Also, do some driving and attend fun events like the Brew Swap and Monte Carlo Night! As the event gets closer, I get more excited. Is that what you guys were looking for?

Hopefully my plans go something like this:

Wednesday: Arrive home from work after picking up my mother (babysitter) from the airport. Drive mom around so she gets to know where things are while we are gone.

Thursday: On the road at 4:30 am in order to miss Chicago Rush hour. Drive. All day. Hit the Dragon (in the fully loaded car on the way down. Arrive Fontana around 5, find the registration tent, sign in, then back to the campground to setup tent, then race back to Fontana for Monte Carlo night. Somewhere in there, eat dinner. Yikes.

Friday: Get up and cook breakfast for all the campers I have enough food for. Hit the dragon parade. Maybe take the skyway drive, or another drive somewhere. Get back early afternoon to check out the car show cars. Grill large steaks at the campground, try not to pre-drink the brew swap beer. Then hit the brew swap. After the brew swap, back to the campgrounds for drinking.

Saturday: Breakfast again. Wash the car, then head over to the group photo. From there, a couple dragon runs, then visit the vendors and pick up some goodies. finally, the farewell dinner, followed by a last round of brews at the campground.

Sunday: get up early, pack up, and .... drive all day.

Great thread! My first MOTD (but surely not my last!), my problem (I'm sure I'm not the only one) is how to fit so much into so little time:

Thursday
Depart northside of Indianapolis no later than 5am- if I can sleep in as late as 430
(Potentially) meet up with the MINI group in Cincinnati at 7am to caravan south
Depending on travel time, detour into Fontana via the Cherohala Skyway
(Quickly) set up tent and head over to the Appalachian Trail, and hike up to the fire tower at Shuckstack
Eat Dinner ?? (food becomes optional with so many more important activities), and meander around Fontana to meet fellow MINI owners

Friday
Dragon Parade (my first drive of the Dragon!)
Heinzelmannchen Brewery Run
Improvise in the afternoon- "interesting" detour back from Sylva, a little more hiking around Fontana, and/or socialize with others around Fontana
Chili and Fry Bread Dinner
Brew Swap

Saturday
Sunrise Drive through the Smokey Mountains
Depart the sunrise drive toward the end, head east toward Asheville
Drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Linn Cove Viaduct: http://www.blueridgeparkway.org/linncove.htm
Hike the trail around the viaduct, postponing as long as possible getting in the car to head home
Meander back north/west picking a route as I go
Daydream about MOTD2009 as I hit the interstates back to Indy

Sunday
Give my wife and kids a big hug & kiss, even though they'll be rolling their eyes as I babble the entire day about my 3 days of adventure at the Dragon

You guys must have better relationships than I, because taking back a girl as a birthday present probably wouldn't go over well!
