Totaled?

I'm looking for your opinion here. This is my girlfriend's mini she bought 2 weeks ago.On the way home she hit a patch of ice on 128 and struck the guard rail. No airbag deployment, all doors opertate freely, still runs, no window cracking, front wheels are free of the arches and turn with no problem. The insurance company adjuster looked at without getting underneath. Any input would be great. She's having an independany body shop recommended by Mini of Peabody look at it as well.

That sucks. Looks like its a salvage though. - by salvage I mean save, not totalled.

Lets have a contest. I say its not totalled, and the ultimate total repair cost will be $8375. Person who guesses closest to the final bill wins something; not sure what. Game?

It looks to be fixable. Parts are relatively cheap for the MINI. I think the hood only costs about $350 new, and the bumper cover is about $200 or so best I remember when I was getting my estimates last year for my fender bender.

not totaled. Does she have a "replace value" rider? If not the adjuster may just be trying to dump it and her. Get her to tell the INS to work with you or a lawyer, keep detailed notes, take 100's of pics, get 2nd, 3rd options even if you pay for someone to go look at it, and fight.

My MINI replaced my previous car which was in a head on with an SUV. "Looks" similar to your GF's damage, but it was a TOTAL LOSS because:
1. airbag deployment - both front
2. fluids leaking
3. front windshield damaged
4. doors did not open/close
5. and the dealbreaker - DOA
6. I walked away from the accident...priceless.

Best of luck to you...and keep us posted.

Now that I look at that pic again, mine is worse...Yikes!!! Yours is salvageable, BUT I'll go high and say $8,500.

Not totalled, I'm gonna undercut and say $4845.32. Probably way under, who knows, just throwing it out there. Is this like Price Is Right...closest without going over?

Medic: Sorry about the GF's Mini, but it looks like it should be brought back to life no problem.

I'm going to say you get them to total it and tell them I will give them $4k for it and I will come pick it up.....
Hook a bother up as I really want to cut the roof and make a roadster....

Bumper support obviously needs to be replaced as well. Associated lighting...possible bent (but not leaking) radiator is something I would want ot replace...radiator mounts...hell of a lot more than those two pieces.

Somewhere in the 6k range I think.

SHAME ...
what a bad way to start your MINI experience

Hope all involved are OK

It may be a total...

I have found that it is NOT black / white

Safety and 100% as new can make a difference.

Not trying to be a wreck chaser ..
but if it is totaled ,, ask what the buy back is and I would be very interested in helping you to make a few bucks .
i am after a ready to prep for race cooper and not concerned with a salvage tital

First and foremost - it sounds like she is okay - which is the most important thing!! What a bummer to have this happen after only owning it for such a short time... Sad pictures...

I would say it's NOT totalled - but you would be surprised on how EXPENSIVE things are to fix on the MINI...wowza...My guess $$ wise is $8K.

At least $8K... looks like a similiar accident to mine. They key is if any intrusion has occurred into the engine compartment and shifted things around a bit and possibly broken things.

If the headlights still work, just have her drive it like it is. It would now make an excellent winter beater for 128. Bungee cords across the hood would really cement the better-not-cut-me-off persona for Boston-area commuters.

Looks like it could be repaired. Have her go to Sublime Restorations in Rowley if she wants it done correctly.
