Being an MA, we get some extra gifts... MINI has started a program where the best Motoring Advisors, can earn incentives for stuff like a cheap lease on a MINI. Anyway, to promote this program MINI sent me a gift today! Its one of those old Viewmaster things from the 80's, where you hold it up to the light and look in it and push a button and it goes through different slides! There are all pics of MINI at different vacation spots, like the big donut in LA. At the end of the slides, it says "You can visit these places next summer with your new MINI". I already have a MINI...but its still very cool. A collectors item I would think, as only Motoring Advisors get them. On the Viewmaster it says "achievments in motoring" very cool. They also sent us little leather business card wallets that say achievments in motoring on them as well.

You young-whipper-snapper... View-Master was commercially released in the late 1930's.

It's a pretty retro way to market a product too!

"one of those old Viewmaster things from the 80's"

Yeah, do you need to put a candle in it or something?

Sounds neat though.

Nahhh Ants, it's just the way you said it. You've just gotta realize that "old" and "80s" don't work in the same sentence for much of the MCO audience.

Now, "old" and "60s", that's a somewhat different story. And here's an old toy from the 60s (actually, 50s) that would also be neat. Anyone want to make MINI slides for a Give-A-Show?

Motoring Advisor. Go to your dealership and apply! No, seriously..in my case I was friendly with the dealer after I bought my MINI there...I was a manager at Abercrombie and Fitch at the time and wanted out. So I just asked, and they said yes.

Ants,
I really think the view master is a great MINI gift. I have a MINI model 1:18 scale sitting on my desk at work. Everyone who comes into my office just goes gah-gah over it. Now I have people from other floors of the building just having to come by my office to see the MINI.

My Point is : If I had a view master, I'd just set it next to my MINI on my desk and it would be free advertising! It's the best idea for word of mouth advertising I've heard of in a long time.

When did most of you receive your 1st ' Welcome to the Mini Club' package after purchasing your Mini? It's been over a month after my purchase and I haven't received anything. Am I expecting it too soon?

I've gotten:

An insulated cup the actually FITS in the front cupholder from MINI... as well as a journal and a spiffy pen. And some other crud, too. I keep getting stuff in the mail is all I know, and I'm happier for it.

I got my mini in April. The first package came in late late May and the second almost a month later in June. I think the key is for you to forget about the free stuff, and then it will show up on your doorstep and you'll be so excited and surprised!(that's how it happened to me anyway)
