Hi guys! My MCS baby is due in three months, and I am undecided on what my first mods should be. I want my baby to be powerful and good looking... any suggestions?

I would say grab a pulley and evotech ECU to take care of the speed. Install an alta or madness rear sway bar and that'll take care of the speed better through the turns. You can also get H-sport springs if you want to be ballistic fast. Not sure what I would change about looks, not my department i guess, I just wash/wax my car and it looks good enough, haha

MiniCraze, to help relieve the stress of decision you could just send me the money.

My .02 is intake, exhaust and pulley. But break-in the MINI and then play.

Welcome to MCO and Happy Motoring.

Intake, exhaust, spings, swaybar, and control arms. Those 5 items and labor charges should pretty well leave you scratching your head wondering where your 2 grand went!

Break in? I gave mine a full 12 miles!
Yeah, first on your list should be pulley, intake, exhaust, and springs/bars, then brakes, wheels ,tires, .....oh....did you say $2000.??? Sorry. You will just have to get a second job because the fun must never stop!

I lost count of my mod expenses at well over $4000.00, and I have only owned the car 3 weeks! I still have a lot more to do as well.... Everyone says I'm crazy, but really I'm just happy!

1) Wheels and tires
2) Rear Sway
3) Intake
4) Pulley
5) Springs
6) Exhaust

Your $2000 will most likely get you to step 3. That's the order I would do the mods in though.

I didn't mention wheels and tires because if you want more speed i recommended the pulley and ecu (then swaybar) eating up a lot of money. I have to say though, when (not if) you get to spending over 2k, be sure to get wheels and tires as they will be a great fun factor.

Step #1: Cold air intake, adds power and you get to hear the SC sing
Step #2: Replace the pulley, adds lots of power
Step #3: Replace the exhaust, more power, sweeter sounds
Step #4: with whatever you have left, save for an ECU remap to synchronize all the mods and squeeze out even more ponies

My personal order of mods:

1) intake
2) pulley
3) sway bar
4) ECU
(this will pretty much take care of your $2000 +/-)
5) exhaust
6) springs
7) tires (by now you've probably burned through the 1st set)
8. brakes

Just my thoughts, good luck.

minicraze,
Aloha and welcome to MCO,
$2000 is enough to get started but there are different ways to go about spending the money.
First you have to prioritize what is important to you.

Appearance: Interior, Exterior, Functional, aesthetic?

Performance:
Interior- controls, audio system, driving comfort?
Exterior-see below:
Suspension- shocks/springs, swaybars front and rear, control arms, links, wheels and tires, tower strut bar
Engine- 15% reduction pulley, ECU computer upgrade reflash, throttlebody rebore
Exhaust- headers, sport cat, cat back exhaust
Brakes- rotors, bigger calipers, brake shoes, brake linings, brake fluid
Aerodynamics/Paint- lots of kits for front and rear bumpers and side skirts and paint jobs.

Naturally all of this adds up and many people on MCO spend from $5000 to $15,000 on upgrades easily.
So get a paper and start to prioritize what is important to you. Some people like to get the biggest bang per buck while others want to complete a category one at a time. Some options are very costly and will use up lots of $$$
other options will void your warranty big time- like the pulley and ECU upgrade.
