Average Miles per Year?
I'm coming from another car universe where Minis didn't exist and it was expected that when your car hit 100,000k (if you were lucky) then it was time to put her to bed and get a new car. You were bettin' the odds at that point.
People put 10,000 miles a year on a car, and that was a lot.
Now it seems that the average lifetime of a car can easily be 200,000k or more, that people put over 20,000 miles a year on them, and life is good.
Tell me what the average miles per year are now? I've talked to co-workers who tell me anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 year is 'normal' - do you guys know what the industry average is now, or is there such a thing?
How long is a well-maintained Mini supposed to last? This BMW world is amazing to me -
The world I just came from was a 1994 Ford Probe SE (I bought her new) that had 143,000 miles on her, ran like a top (well-maintained - new paint last year, sweet), and even the dealer who sold me my MC didn't realize how old she was (and they gave me way more money than I expected for her too!) - and it's good thing Harmini wrapped herself around me like a snake, 'cause I didn't look back at the Probe, sitting there in the lot. Hope she found a good home.

Husband had a 1997 Ford Aerostar with 254,000 miles, looked new & we got $650 as a trade in for it. He drives @ 35K a year. Never had any problems with that Ford. Probably the best car buy we ever had. njp

Since I bought my '04 S at the end of March '07, we have been together for almost 33,000 miles.
That will go down since I no longer have the 140miles/day commute to the office but it's still my favorite toy from the 4 cars we have...and I USED to think my 7 Series handled pretty well..
Why buy it if you don't drive and ENJOY it?

Typically, 10k a year is "less," 12k a year is "average," and 15k a year is "high."
I put just a hair under 30k on my MCS the first year. It'll be closer to half that the second year.

I bought Maggie (06R53) new on 30 June 06. Over the last 19.51 months, she's averaged 71 miles per day and about 2043 miles per month with 39871 on the dial now. All of this whilst living in the Limburg region of the Netherlands (Holland), which is all of 20 minutes across from Belgium to Germany!!! Still loving it!
Cheers!!

I got my 06MCS in Nov. of 05 and it now has 35K plus. I had a 04MC for a year and it had 34K when I sold it. I've put a little over 3K on my 81 Corvette since Sept of 2004 when I got my first MINI. The MINI is so much more fun to drive.
I only average 12,000 per year in the MINI.
About 20,000 per year in the family mini van, Honda.
The van has 110,000 and I don't have a worry about taking it over 200,000.
We will see on the MINI. I think the basic car is sound but the support systems are what can drive you nuts with repairs.

Lets see, My '94 Saturn(purchased new) was traded in @ just shy of 290,000 Miles. So thats around 26,000 a year. Traded in for '05 MINI Cooper September 5th. Now have 48,000 Miles*.
For 10 months I was an over the road truck driver and only saw Audrey for 1 week out of 6.
I guess I'm still between 25 and 30,000 a year.

I put about 6500 miles a year on my 2002 MINI Cooper, sold it with less than 40k miles. My R56 MINI already has over 6000 miles, and is eleven months old. But, I live walking distance to grocery and public transport, have a sports car, two scooters and two bicycles. So... I tend to walk or bike ride when possible. Need to do more MINI drives this spring!
i have had my mcsa since march '06 and i just turned 19k miles. my wife has had her '06 pontiac g6 gt since dec of '05 and just turned 13k miles
. i average about 9000 a year and she averages about 6000 a year. i love to drive more during the spring, summer, and fall months and thats when i put more miles on.
