Right hand drive? Anyone done it?

Just wanted to see if anyone has taken the US R53 and made it a right hand drive. What is different in the UK version under the hood? Could I do this with mine with some work? Sure think it would be cool to have a right hand drive Mini with out going through the trouble of getting one directly from the UK. Anyone in the UK reading this that would want to swap to make your mini a left hand car?

My classic is RHD. Have you ever tried to go through a drive through...or use an ATM from the right side of the car? The benefit is when people pull up to you at a stoplight it's easier to talk to them.

Why in the hell would you want to swap your car to RHD? Hahah... if it's just to be different, then I'm sure you can find some ... stickers or somethin.

You might want to check the laws there, too. If it didn't come from the factory they might not let you have it like that.

I saw a '07 on ebay that was from Florida that was right hand drive. Someone, somewhere is doing this to the Minis. I just reverse through ATMs and drive-up windows in my classic, always get a big laugh doing that.

If I had a right hand drive I wouldn't care about the ATM or anything else. I just want to know what is different under the hood and the tranny I am thinking about trying to find a wrecking yard in the UK and see if I can get parts from there. Just think it would be awesome to have a US version supped up right hand drive mini.

No idea.. Probably quite a bit. Probably will never happen but it would be cool to find out just what it would take to do it. Maybe someone int he UK wants a left hand drive mini so they stand out there..

It would probably cost a pretty penny, but would be neat. Your best bet would probably be to do it as a project over time. Strip it bare, get yourself a UK spec setup, and then reinstall. You would have to do some serious work to the dash/firewall. Go FOR IT!
