Got my pulley, borla exaust and bmp air intake yesterday. All I can say is wow.A huge differance in acceleration esp above 50-60 mph.Air intake is a bit loud for me but I will get used to it.Exaust note is perfect.Super charger whine is cool.If anyone is on the fence about this stuff I say go for it.

JR9907,
Aloha and welcome to MCO-
That's alot of upgrades to do at once. But you will get used to them. The Borla is a nice slightly louder exhaust but not that much more HP, The BMP intake is loud but not that much HP. The Pulley is giving you alot of kick, maybe 18 HP and mostly in the lower RPM range about 2500-3000. Enjoy your improved MCS. Be safe.

Seeing your limited number of posts, welcome to MCO.

Congrats on your Mods...

I couldn't agree with you more. Intake, exhaust and pulley ! The perfect combination of engine Mods.

Your really can notice the difference between the Stock S and the one without these Mods.

Whenever I wonder how docile my S used to be, I just fire up the wife's car and remind myself of "life before the pulley".

What fun it is to do a side by side comparison. When we are on the road together with our "TwOMinis" I pull away from her effortlessly

His, Chile Red all over, Helix pulley, Magnaflow exhaust, Madness intake, RDR swaybar.
Hers, Electric Blue / Union Jack on top and bone Stock

You can go to the dealership and they will install all of this, the pulley is what I am really talking about here. I didnt know this. What is their policy (warranty) towards any of those upgrades and how much did the pulley alone cost you for install (if you know)

Much appreciated
Bryan

I've had the pulley mod. now for about a month (Thanks Randy). It is like having an extra pair of cylinders (1.6 = 2.4). From about 2500 rpm up to redline, there is noticable improvement over stock performance. Plus the s'charger's whine has replaced Born to Run as my favorite song. If you only do one mod., this is it.

Agreed. Between the pulley, the Madness Intake and the MINI Motorsport airbox mod, there is definitely a noticable supercharger/intake whine. Very nice.

born to run allright! just saw springsteen in concert on tuesday.

I had a lot of second guesses about getting pulley but little by little i am convincing myself. i would much rather get a mod one by one though so you can see what each one does for you. congrats on your new mod.

>>Not true about the pulley. The pulley IS the best mod to increase torque and power at lower rpms. But don't forget, it STILL gives more power at higher RPMs! The smaller pulley makes the supercharger spin faster thus giving boost earlier. So after the pulley, at 2200 RPMs you'll now have the boost and power that you used to have at 3000 RPMs. But at 4k, 5k, 6k+ the supercharger will be spinning faster than it used to, giving you more boost. And MAX boost will STILL BE near redline. So lower-end torque is much improved but if you really want to fly as fast as MINI will let you, you still have to keep the revs up.

Yes, sorry I wrote that wrong. Meant to say exactly what you corrected me about. From about 2200-2500 RPM up to redline- more HP and more torque. Maybe easily noticed on the low end- depends how much one drives on the upper end. If you drive and use the entire range of RPMs then you will be very happy.

That's a little on the high side... Expect more like 10-14hp increase,
according to Randy.

Once installed you'll know something is really different,
the engine is more willing to rev and does so effortlessly.

If you make any mod do the pulley first!

Has anyone done the pulley, then added an exhaust system later? If so, was the added HP noticeable, or just the sound? I had my pulley installed yesterday by Randy here in NorCal along with the Evotech ECU. Wow, feels like a totally different car and I can't stop grinning everytime I hit the gas. Since I still have the stock exhaust system, I would like to know who added an exhaust later. I heard the Magnaflow for the first time yesterday and I really liked it! UUC (AKA "vaporware), looks like a nice system too, but for $600 cost for the Magnaflow, seems like a "no brainer." Still, I am not wild about the "trumpet" tips. Comments very much appreciated.
Cheers!

PS: I dyno'ed right after the mods with a hot engine (from the Randy test drive), and I got 178 HP and 158 torque at the wheels. Randy thought I would get around another 10 HP with the Maganflow. The European Car mag. results are contadicting to all the other data that we have been hearing.

I have pulley, evotech upgrade, and Alta intake. All great buys.

However, no new exhaust here. Expensive and very marginal HP gain if at all.

European Car Magazine reports about a 2-3 HP increase at 4,000 rpm and a 1 HP DECREASE at 6,000. I'd get an exhaust if I just wanted the way they sound and look, but it seems a poor performance payout.
