2 feet plus! Think I'd be driving the 4x4 I've run thru ~3-4" of snow w/ no problem (before I was lowered, wouldn't attempt it now) using all season.

I don't really like studded tires, personally I would go w/ snow tires and put on chains if it was that bad out.

I hear they are good in the snow, but once the snow flows, I move to my Land Rover. Safety in a Tank.

Now that the snow plows have shifted the snow and turned the streets into sheets of ice ...what has been the groups experience with studded snows on ice?

Thanks

I've had excellent experience with Bridgestone Blizzaks. Incredible grip through snow and on ice.

Dunlop Wintersport M3. Good on both snow and dry pavement.

I had studded Coopers and love them. They weren't overly expensive and they handle great. The only downside is on dry pavement, the handling is a little loose (feels like I'm on gravel on turns) but not too bad.

I have Blizzak REVO 1s on, they are great in snow and ice and fine when not-too-overly-spirited on wet and dry. However, they *hate* grooved highways, which are all the rage 'round here in the last couple of years. So any resurfaced interstate is somewhat dicey. I slow down, of course, but I don't like the feel.

I was running them 33psi on all four corners initially. An e-mail conversation with Bridgestone/Firestone had me change that slightly to 30F/35R. The problem (shimmy) has reduced, but it is not completely eliminated.
