R50/53 I just gave my bride an MCS - Hello from a total Newbie
Hi everyone.
I just found you guys recently and I really haven't lurked long enough, but I had to share (and besides I wanted to introduce myself since the Bucks County PA Covered Bridge run sounds really cool).
I just got married a couple weeks ago (June 28th) and I arranged for a surprise wedding present to be sitting outside the chapel ... when they opened the doors Jenn saw for the first time the car of her dreams
a new Electric Blue 2003 MCS, White roof/wheels, cold weather and premium packages, leather seats, HK sound system, GPS system ... etc
She'd actually built it online with me, but thought we were just playing.
I have to admit I ABSOLUTELY love this car (it's much nicer than the Turbo Beetle of hers that I traded after a false but believable story that it had a blown turbo when I made it disappear the week before the wedding).
Anyway, Jenn fell in love with the original Mini when she lived in Germany during part of high school and I was totally psyched that I could pull off this awesome surpise.
We've only got 300 miles on her (since we were away for a couple weeks), but we're working on it!!!!!!
Looking forward to sharing lots of stories and learning a lot from everyone here.
Kev
Thanks for the kinds words and the hellos.
As requested...

As for the Bucks County run, things are pretty hectic, but I'll tell Jenn about it tonight and I betcha she's going to want to make time.

WOW, what a great welcome. I don't know what to say, but I'll come up with something. Actually, I hope you guys like long-winded posts, cause once you get me started (well, you'll find out).
Don't give me toooo much credit. I mean, Jenn makes it easy to want to do something like that. And, honestly, I was quite tickled with the plan. Though friends have pointed out I've pretty much set myself up when it comes to birthdays and anniversaries.

"What a guy!" Wow, you've really set yourself up now! Start saving now for that three stone ring for your first anniversary! No, really what a guy! Great story and welcome to the family of MCO
Welcome to MCO KevM
You just put a BIG smile on my face. What a story, what a little fibbin' devil you are!!! What a start to a great life together.
We would be honored to have the newbie-weds at the Bucks County ride. There are a couple of stops along the way, so maybe you could come for even half of the day. And just to assure you, there will be at least one other MINI that is still in the break-in period, so we'll be sure to take it easy on ya. Hope to see you and Jen there.
Cheers,
Kim
And no doubt the newlyweds will be stopping to kiss under each covered bridge!!!
Congratulations. And by the way, giving her a MINI is the easy part. Letting her be the one to drive it every day is going to be harder.

Thanks again everyone!
Tira - congrats, have fun this weekend.
Deli - NO KIDDING... at least she lets me drive it when were going someplace together (she even said she might let me take it once and a while during the week, if I have a lot of driving to do). Guess I need to call in sick and go driving.

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ALL
It's been a couple of years.
Actually to be accurate it's been about 80,000 awesome miles, 2 sets of stock tires, one set of Blizzaks, two sets of stock brake pads and rotors, one set of "dustless" (yeah right) EBC pads and a whole-lotta fun.
We've got a Navigation System problem, so I thought I'd drop by and see if any of the really smart people here can help. I've got a couple of ideas.
I'll start a new thread on it.
