So... Mine was the penultimate MINI to get the pulley and Evotech done at the SCPP.
Thanks Randy and Bud. You guys are the best!
It was also nice to meet Blake (Bmarvin) while there. Enjoyed chatting with you Blake!

First the important stuff. Yes the car is faster. I like it alot. I have the Madness Intake and the Airbox Mod, but just the stock exhaust (I am waiting to see what Vaporware King UUC has in store for us). Even so, this is a very worthwile mod. It has my stamp of apporval, and the Mini Motorsport Pulley Party is a great way to get it done.

Here are a couple of snaps that I took while standing around watching Randy work:

The engine raised for the pulley install (Geez that thing is in the air!)

I know that others took photos as well. Post them here and lets see what the real party looked like.

Cheers,
Eric

hey eric,

Hope your drive back was tolerable Mine sure was aweful with all that extra power. As you said the mod is great (pulley and ecu) at first I was a bit dissapointed but I think with the combo of traffic and the ecu adjusting, it finally came into its own later on. Now it feels great. It's kind of like icing on top of the cake, but it is far from a life changing mod. I've been spoiled by having friends with way too fast of cars, 911 turbos, c5 vettes, ect. But all in all it is worth every penny. Can't wait till I get her all cleaned up tommorrow. Hope all is well.

Blake

What I noticed most on the 80 mile drive back was the extra punch in 6th on the highway. Downshift to pass? Moi??? I don't think so!

Blake,
I understand 100% what you were saying about the level of performance change. Keep in mind that it was a pretty toasty afternoon, and the ECU probably needs some time to adjust. Although I am happy with the upgrade as it is, I sort of expect to see additional improvement over the next couple of days. Time will tell and I shall report.

Randy did a professional and fast job on my pulley. I am glad I had it done. This is by far the best bang for the buck you can get. The intake (pilo) was not in and I was hesitant about the Alta as it is so loud. For 2 hp. I am not sure it would be worth it, having purchased the HK. for tunes. I'm thinking the pilo and back partition cut-out. If it's too loud, epoxy the cutout closed again. Maybe save the decibels for the magnaflow. BTW, Ann Jones (or is it Johnson) from AZ had a real neat magnaflow mod - the duals are without the back racetrack. A the cooper valence with symmetrical cutout on left side is used, with each muffler exiting directly out the back. She had a Y splitter in front instead of the "racetrack" so it is more of a dual muffler without rear or front "racetrack". Her car was not real loud and she said she did not notice power reduction. This eliminated the low end drone as she was sensitive to it.

It was fun to meet others in the group. Bud was so hospitable to open his shop to us.

Hey Eric,

You right, it was very toasty on the way back, for a while it was about 104 outside on my way home on top of the fact that I spent about 1.5 hrs in near stand still traffic (ahhhhh!) But yes, sixth gear is excellent. It's a nice subtle change being able to squeeze the throttle and just scoot along. Took my car out last night around 2am on some backroads to give it a proper thrashing and now I've come to realize that 1st gear is almost worthless with all the wheelspin . I guess some of my comments were made a bit prematurly due to my unfortunate trek back north. But bang for the buck there is no other combo out there that delivers these kinds of smiles. Going to get the car washed today, also I'm having my bonnet stripes taken off, just for the sake of variety. Hope all is well

Blake

Yeah the pulley is a major transformation! If you are not going in a straight line, WOT in this tall 1st gear can get extreme! Wooo! Hey but maybe it's time I get some real tires??? Runflats are becoming a joke.
