Pedals slippery when wet

When shoes and/or pedals are wet (like when it rains), I have often had my foot slip off the clutch or brake pedal - quite disconcerting when it happens. Anybody else experience this/have a good solution?

Same here, I always try to wipe my feet off real good before getting in if I can, or on the floor mat... I've been considering some better pedals because of this, I live in Oregon, it rains a lot.

Problem with wiping off is if it's pouring rain, it's tough to completely dry off, and doesn't seem to take much wetness to make the stock pedals slippery. Silenze, I've thought about replacing pedals too - anyone out there have experience with any replacements that you would recommend? Or maybe pedal covers??

That is one of two reasons I put these in from Ultimate Pedal:

Got tired of my feet slipping off when it was wet outside. Can make for some dangerous shifting and hard braking.

Howsoon, skater's tape - what a great idea! You must be younger generation to know about the stuff Must be the cheapest solution out there - I don't care so much how my pedals look, only how well they work, so think I'll try some.

Sumwon, thanks for the link - I googled for pedals but didn't find this one. How easily did they install, did you have to drill holes? I like that Ultimate offers a clutch/brake set, no deadpedal/gas pedal, which keeps the cost down. Did this completely solve your slipping problem, or do you think the versions with the grip inserts are worth considering?

Yes, I've had this happen (it did rain in San Diego - once - about a week ago )....and it's startling when it does - the foot slippage thing I mean.

Appreciate the OP bringing it up and happy to read the suggested remedies.

They do require drilling, but really not a biggy except the brake pedal which is metal. It was hot and and I was twisted into a funny position, but I got it done. I am 100% satisfied with the results with regards to slipping, and the gas pedal is actually bigger than stock and allows me to blip the throttle easier for braking down shifts like heel-to-toe.

I think I'm going to go with the finsh you got and this brake/clutch pedal layout.

Those are what I was thinking of earlier when I posted the pedals from OutMotoring, but I didn't know where to find them. The ultimate pedals look like they have better grip..

I'll have to try the grip tape, i've had some dangerous situations with slippery pedals.

When I had the same problem on my 350Z I put some anti-skid tape on the pedals. You just trim it and place in between the raised rubber on the aluminum; it worked great!

You can find the anti skid tape at any auto parts store or Home Depot/Lowes.

Someone around here bought the pedals like these with the rubber studs and said they had an awful time with the studs coming out. That is why I opted for the textured finish. It has enough grip to be useful but no so obtrusive that my foot gets caught up on the pedals.
