Should I buy this MINI?

Hi everyone!
Been lurking here a while, and am finally ready to buy a Mini. I've searched high and low for what I want, and I came across this one. Wondering what you experts think on this.

06 Cooper S JCW Engine
23,000 Miles
6 speed
Gray W/ Silver Roof, Checkmate interior
Leatherette Interior
Sport Pack W/ Xenon Headlights

It does not say if the car has Limited Slip Diff, but it does have DSC

More here: http://www.executivecarsales.com/det...s-2441296.html

I checked the Carfax and it's OK, called Mini with the VIN, and they had limited info. Said it probably was a millitary sale, so not knowing all the service records is a little worrysome.

The other problem is it's out of state for me, so I'd be buying it sight unsees. Teh sales guy sais it's mint, but I know how that goes. I was hoping to buy one from an enthusiast here, but was too late

Personally, I would like the cold weather package, Lumbar support, and chrono pack, but I have not seen one for sale with all that and JCW.

What do you think it's worth?

PS, what does the JCW package go for anyway?

Thanks, this site rocks!

Looks like a nice car. The JCW cost ~ $6K if installed by the dealer, if I recall. If added in factory build it was $4500. For a what its worth, check out the others that are popping up. I've seen comparables on the site for ~ $25K, not sure if they are getting that tho, and those had some additional packages, so you're probably below that.

Good luck!

i agree, nice car and kinda rare color combo(royal grey if memory serves me right, and silver roof)

I like the fact that the car has no sunroof(less weight) and webspokes(lightest oem wheel)...add into that the factory jcw package and it should make for a very fun ride!!!

You may want to post in the UT threads and ask if someone would be willing to go and test drive it for you. I have done that for three members in the last 6 months, two are happy owners, one was saved a trip to unhappyland.

NAM Rocks and it's members are the ones rockin to help others.

Looks like a nice car. If I were to buy it, I'd make em take their dealership sticker off the back hatch before I'd drive off the lot though

same here. i hate the dealership sticker on the car. NavyCav3 is right tho, you want to get it for less than 25k b/c it doesn't have all the nice packages like iPod and heated seats. i found mine through Craigslist so i could drive it and feel out the clutch. it's $1600 for a new one and i got the guy to take off 2 grand so my MCS got a good chunk of change off of it and we based it on edmunds good car value - repairs needed.

Nice MCS JCW, 2006 offeref the limited edition bonnet stripe; I have that on mine.

Are you flying out to see it/test drive? That will tell you a lot. We have a local guy here in the military who bought an 07 MCS in Sept 2007 and is selling it due to an assignment to Korea. If you can find out who the previous owner was, you may be able to ask them a few questions as to why they decided to sell it.

If it drives well, and the price is reasonable, it looks like a good deal; it's clean, blemmish free, JCW, rare color combo, and someone painted the front brake calipers a cool red...good for at least an addition 5mph!

No no! Do it yourself. They'll send the lot porter out with a razor blade.

I would never buy a car I haven't seen and driven first. Never believe a what a car salesman says over the phone. My 2 cents.

Looks like it doesn't have the premium package, cold weather package and the H/K stereo.

Judging by the JCW brakes, the JCW engine kit could have been installed at the factory. If that's the case then it has the limited slip differential.

With 23K miles on the clock, the service I should have been performed.

Running the VIN on RealOEM indicates it's a December 2005 build:

As above, it's probably a Factory JCW MCS with a spec close to the following:
Code:
+------------------+--------+
| Specifications | 2006 |
+------------------+--------+
| Base MCS | 20,600 |
| Destination | 550 |
| JCW Package | 6,300 |
| Sport Package | 1,400 |
| Web-spoke Wheels | 500 |
| Metallic Paint | 450 |
| MFSW | 250 |
+------------------+--------+
| Total | 30,050 |
+------------------+--------+
The Service Inspection I service is usually due around the 25,000 mile mark. The brake fluid should also be changed every 2 years from build date and the coolant flushed every 4 years from build date. You need to check on the first two of these maintenance items.

is that what you think it should go for? No way, Even if it didn't have the JCW kit, that would be a bit low.

WOW MINIAC, I think you nailed it right on the head! Nice! Great info

Guess I was off just a little Jay, I forgot you had to add the sports package with the JCW kit and I missed the MFSW. Can really consider the destination charge when your looking at a used car.

OK, Signed the papers (deposit).

$23,7 out the door. I'm having them take it to Desert Mini in LV to have service done next week, and have everything checked out by the dealership. If all seems good, I'll fly in Fri to pick it up abe drive it back to Colorado.

Wish me luck, and thanks for all the input!
