License and Registration...

Woke up for school at round 6 45
got home at 2 45 and proceeded to install 3 pairs of speakers and wash the car
Left for night school at 5 30 and got out at around 9 15
9:30 got a call from a buddy at work saying he was very ill and asking if i would come and finish his shift for him. i owed him a favor so i said sure.
12:10 am- after a long (and pretty noble sounding day) i got pulled over and received my first ticket in my mini Pretty lame, eh? Oh, and it was a pinecrest cop, for those of you in the Miami area. I guess my next mods will have to wait some now.

Thanks for letting me vent. Oh, and while im here, can anyone tell me about their experiences with Ticket Clinic? or should i just pay the ticket and get on with life?

Pinecrest cops = Sneaky sneaky.

They're always hanging around and what not. Hope you weren't doing something ridiculous though, otherwise it sucks you got stopped.

Firebolt,

I don't know the system in Miami, but in Dec, I was clocked at 59 in a 45 zone on a three lane access road to IH 10. This is about a $200 ticket since I was 14 miles/hr over the speed limit.

I've been in and out of the hospital for the past 3 months and I totally forgot about this ticket as my mind was on keeping on living and not contribution funding to the municipality. I missed the deadline to pay for the ticket! (could have kicked myself!)

So the other day, the Munic. Courts sent me a summons in the mail to appear for non payment of the traffic ticket. Along with this summons were 4 solicitation letters from lawyers the could represent me and get me off the hook for less than the cost of the ticket. So I called one and the deal was $175 which pays for court costs, the ticket, not having to appear in person, the lawyers fees and to boot, no points on my record. (I have to abide by the decision of the court and might have to take a defensive drivers class.)

Of course I went with that deal, but I am going to keep a close eye on it to make sure it gets fulfilled, but you might want to look in that direction to see if you can get some of the local attorneys to go to bat for you.

For the future, check out on-line traffic schools. Some jurisdictions will allow you to use an on-line school, greatly lessening that amount of lost time and added indignity.

I got a ticket in Chaffee County, CO., and wrote to the court asking if I could do an on-line school. The response was, "No,"but they did allow me to pay the fine, not appear in court, and best of all, no points. It is the points that can kill you in the long run. If you have a few it increases your insurance for three years, which can really add up. Also, on a few occasions I have been stopped but released with a warning because of my clean record of no violations in the past 5+ years.

Anyhow, it sounds as if you had a super bad day; I hope you have a bunch of good ones for the future.

Joe

OH NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

OH NOOOOOOO Pinecrest!!!!!!!!!!!! Your post says "I WAS A PINECREST COP" Or is it "IT WAS A PINECREST COP"! Whichever they only write non-Pinecrest residents ! Sneaky Bunch! Well either driving school or TICKET CLINIC. You usually can go to court and get the same results as TICKET CLINIC for yourself at court unless you lose a days pay!(Plea no contest and ask the Judge or Hearing Officer for a withhold of adjudication(NO POINTS) )Whatever you choose DO NOT just PAY IT or points will be assessed and your pockets will be emptied by the fine insurance companies rates here in Florida.

thanks for all the replies. IT was a pinecrest cop (i was never a pinecrest cop, its been editted) Yes, they are very "sneaky" to put it in the kindest way possible. I was speeding 66 on a 45. Yeah, i know, my fault, tsk tsk tsk, but it was late, no traffic, i was tired. I'm going to call ticket clinic tomorrow, see what they tell me.
