My boost gauge needle bounces

Is this a symptom of belt slippage? It bounces from 14-16psi. I got 36k on my 03 with original belt. Do you think it's time to change.

I'd get a handheld 'regular' cheap vacum boost troubleshooting gauge and hook that baby up to make sure it does the same thing first. You might have better luck getting hits if you post in the Stock problems or the 'mods drivetrain' forum. More likely to get tech minded folks cruising those forums.

Good luck!

Did you check the hose? You might be kinking someplace. LOTS cheaper to start there, then move to replacing belts when you're 100% sure the hard line's not constricted someplace. Depending on where you lashed it, it might be torquing or bending at high RPMs when engine components flex and move...

I'll check everything again today. Maybe it's the loose nut behind the wheel!

Also..

make sure the hose connection are tight. For my VGS, I used wire-ties to keep the cheap hoses I used from expanding and burping. Once you are sure that all the connections are tight (including IC couplers), then confirm with another guage. Belt slippage, and the by-pass valve could both be sources. If it's not any of those, finding the sucker could be harder still. There are shops that can pressurize your intake track and look for cracks, leaks and bad seals.... Let your fingers do the walking...

Bouncing Boost

I have a boost meter and it does not bounce at 14 to 15 # boost which is the first tip that you have a reduction pully ...right?
The first place I would look is the belt as 36000 miles is just about all it is good for with that pulley, or possibly the tensioner is getting weak and bouncing at that RPM. Randy Webb installed my pulley and the last thing he said was to replace the belt after about 32000. I also have a 2% crank pulley which just adds to the problem. Good luck but I would do some careful checking before things come unglued.
