Any experiences with South Motors MINI?

Anyone have an experience to share about purchasing from South Motors MINI in Miami? I have gotten a quote from Lauderdale MINI, which, for the most part seems to have stellar reviews from the NAM community, but I can't seem to find anything about South Motors.

I was about to go with Lauderdale for my '08 MCS order, but South Motors' out-the-door quote came back about $400 cheaper! I'm willing to spend the extra $$ to go with Lauderdale if South Motors' reputation isn't that great, but if I can save $400 and still order with confidence, then that would be great!

I had wonderful experiences with the folkes at Lauderdale Mini. (I believe my saleslady's name was Ruth). They gave me a great deal on a car that was ON the sales floor (a fully loaded car someone had ordered, but then reneged on). This was an 07.

got mine at southmotors, David Grace is certainly a cool guy that will personally go out of his way for you. Out of curiosity, i would find out whats the waiting time to get a service appointment at the other dealership because my only problem with South Motors is that you must make an appointment a week and a half in advanced in order to bring your car in for service. Aside from that, i've had no problems

I am actually in Jacksonville, so I will be having my service done at Tom Bush. The reason I'm considering Lauderdale and South Motors is because Tom Bush won't budge off of MSRP, they require a $2000 non-refundable deposit, and they charged me for floor mats in the quote they gave me, even though I never added them in the configurator!

I never cared for South Motors MINI, although in the past my family purchased Hondas and VWs from them. Their service department is horrific, simply put, and although I know a few people that have worked there, my opinion of the place has not changed one bit. Their MINI sales force has strike me as being arrogant. I generally avoid Miami based MINI dealerships for the same reasons. I have purchased all my MINIs from Lauderdale MINI and will continue to do so with our Clubman purchase. The 30+ mile drive is worth it to me. Good luck.

Tell Brad that Pete, the firefighter from the Florida Keys told you Brad is the guy to see! A+ salesman!

Brad is the oldest salesperson at South Motors MINI. He has worked there for nearly 6 years.

Having said that, would you go to South Motors to save $400, or would you stick with Lauderdale?

Luke, I guess it all comes down to this: If saving $400 is important to you (I know it is to me and most folks), then probably taking your business to South Motors is the way to go. After all, you will not be dealing with them at all when you need to bring in the car for service. If you are a local Miami-Ft Lauderdale resident, I would say, avoid South motors like the plague. Question: How about Downtown MINI in Orlando? Another alternative to both Lauderdale MINI and South Motors MINI is Vista MINI located in Pompano Beach. Vista is also owned by the South motors group and those guys seem to be getting better reviews than South Motors in Miami. If I were you, I would call Vista MINI and ask for Giorgio. He has very good comments over at Sunshineminis.org and regularly posts there. They may even match or better the $400 discount from their Miami sister dealership.

Braman in Miami has so-so service and the sales manager is an arrogant dude that I personally don't care to deal with. Until last year he used to be a MA and when the nice Sales Manager went to work over for Braman BMW, they gave this loser his vacant position. They are very close to my home but I don't bother with Braman, except, when I need to pick up a part or something out of pure convenience.

It would be much more convenient for me to go with Downtown as it is only 2 hours away, but they will not budge off of MSRP. That was the first place I checked when Tom Bush wouldn't bargain.

Miami happens to be more convenient than Lauderdale also because when I go to pick it up, my girlfriend and I were going to fly down and then drive back and make a little vacation out of it (maybe stay in Miami for a day, stop in Orlando, etc.). I can fly into Miami from Jacksonville for under $100, whereas Ft. Lauderdale will cost almost $200.

I am in North Florida as well and also got my car from Lauderdale MINI. They offered me the best deal among all the dealers I talked to in Florida. They were willing to beat other dealers' offers. I am surprised they did not beat South Motors' offer in your case.

I actually got a quote for about $200 more than South Motors (meaning it was about $200 less than Lauderdale's) from another FL dealer. Lauderdale wouldn't beat it. They said that they had given me their lowest price and they couldn't go any lower, which means that they aren't going to beat South motors at $400 lower.

Why go south to buy one?
Why not come north and then take a little spin in the mountains as a reward?

Call Amanda @ MoSA: (678)479-4666 cel:(678)665-9211
Minis of South Atlanta has a great rep, supports our local AtlantaMINIS club, and Amanda really is a member of our community and does pain-free deals.

I have actually spoken to Amanda (just a few minutes ago in fact). Her manager would only discount $500 off of MSRP. Amanda is extremely nice and very helpful and I would recommend her to anyone in the Atlanta area. However, for me, it is about the same distance as Miami and I will end up saving quite a bit more with South Motors. Plus, I can get all of the taxes, plates, etc. taken care of at the dealer instead of having to go to the DMV once I got back to FL.

I spoke to Brad. His quote came in about $200 more than South Motors. South Motors is more convenient for me because of the fact that I can fly right into Miami and it's a very cheap flight. At this point, I'm just trying to make sure that South Motors is reputable before I place my order. Thanks for the recommendation though.
