New to me MCc

Hi all,

I just purchased a used '05 MCc 5 speed with 19k on it. Still have 10 months warranty on it. Is there any way to get a service history report on it? I want to know if any warranty work has been done, if so what, and if regular maintenance was followed. I called Moritz mini up in Arlington TX, provided the vin, and they said that information was private. ?? How is that? I don't care about the prior owner, I just want info on the car.

After seeing all the doom and gloom on this site, makes me wonder what I got myself into...is this thing a wallet timebomb waiting to happen? Seems like it's hit and miss, some folks have zero issues others seem to have bought a yugo.

Any tips on what to watch for or look at in my remaining warranty coverage?

Thanks for your help,

e_rkk

I would start with a call to your local MINI dealer. If not there then try a call to MINI USA.

Congrats on you new baby.

Cheers,
Jack

If the service was done at an authorized mini dealership, you can get it by joining the mini owners club on the official mini site.
They require you input the VIN, and it will then pull up all your "officially" serviced services. Go direct to MINI and bypass the dealership.
I have an 05 MCSc on its way to my house now!

Hi Joshamman, I setup an account with the mini owners club but I see no service records...I'm guessing that will only exist if the owner has actually taken the time to enter in information. Correct me if I'm wrong.

To the best of my knowledge the dealership enters it in. So it could mean that the maintenance was not performed at a certified MINI/BMW dealership. I asked the previous owner of mine, and he did not input the information, so it came from the MINI dealership.
Possible they had the maintenance done at some other place?

I did the same....05 convertible S with 32 K. I have a warranty for the next 10 months.

I went to the Hendirck Mini dealership and they gave me a history of all the service done on my mini.....right now I will bring it in on Friday because there are some quircks to work out like windows make noise etc.

Overall, I am still very extited and am not conserned that it is a used car....

No, they should give you some information. You may have to go in and provide a bill of sale, title, or something, or maybe they can pull some info off the chip in the key. Either way, you should be able to get that if you are the new owner, either from them or MINI USA.

FWIW, I had to get a new glovebox lid on my '03 and, lo and behold, the only glovebox lids they could get had locks, even though mine did not. Anyway, getting that lock keyed properly was a major production...I had to provide all kinds of documentation just to prove I was really the owner. Maybe the same thing is happening here.

Ask Moritz what kind of documentation you need to provide....if your car is still under warranty you need to know this stuff, and if Moritz is the nearest dealer (and where you may have warranty work done) they need to step up. I will say Bryan and Eric have been super to work with...I think they need to understand your situation better.

Thanks guys, I spoke with the folks in the service dept. They were able to give me the lowdown, just needed to talk with the proper folks I guess.

Looks like the mini I got had a new tranny and clutch at 5k and the top adjustment. All regular maintenance was done. Hopefully the first owner worked all the bugs out for me .
