TURNING A MINI INTO A VTEC

Hi everybody i'm new to this whole mini thing. but i've actually wanted a mini for a while and i came across the idea of converting a mini copper into a vtec mini and that kinda got me excited and made me decide i want a mini. I'm not in the position to create a vtec mini yet, but i was wondering where i could find just the body of a mini.

First of all, you spelled "COOPER" wrong. Also, why would you put vtec inside of mini? MCS is super fun to drive as it is. I understand lots of car forums are seeing LS1 swaps and VTEC swaps but I think putting vtec inside of mini would kill its character. It's just my opinion but I think a lot of people would agree with me, too. And just out of curiosity, what vtec engine are you planning to use?

I'm guessing you are talking about putting a VTEC in a classic Mini, rather than a new (ie: BMW) MINI? I've seen a number of them built using classics, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it to a MINI.

I suspect you mean putting a VTEC in a "classic" (1959-2000) Mini, not the "new" (ie: BMW) MINI?

First off, what model Mini are you looking to convert? The older Classic or the newer 02 on version.

If it's the older then this should be in the Classices area. You'll find others there have done the same and may offer advice.

It it's the new model then I wish you good luck. I'm sure it can be done but the real question is why when there are ways to make incredible amounts of HP and TQ with the current engine. Mating a Honda computer to a BMW body control module might be a tad bit tricky.

Welcome to NAM, and please lose the CAPS lock.

I am planning on putting it into a Classic Mini, I don't see a reason to put it in one of the new Minis
