Well started stripping the 96

So far got the interior minus the dash and headliner pulled. Headliner will probably be toast, but it looks like the plans are changing a bit. A guy on base told me he has a 1275 plus gearbox that he will sell me for 150. So I'm going to pick that up. The Cooper engine is going to go on ebay. The more I thought about it, the more of a pain it will be with having to do maintenance and get parts. So I'm going to pull the assembly, and put in ebay along with all the associated computers, and full wiring harness. Whats left is going to be divided up between the pickup and the coupe. So far I have put the seats in the coupe, and have to say it makes a huge difference in the comfort of the car, that along with the seat extensions. I tried using the steering wheel drop kit, but it puts it too far down. I'll try and get some pics up soon. Going to finish pulling the dash today, and see what other bits I can get done. Still waiting to hear back from my neighbor about him towing it to my house. If he cant do it soon, I'm going to have to pay someone to do it for me. But a plus of the cooper, is I found a few odds and ends that I didnt have, and didnt realize were in the car. Found the jack and tire iron (neither of my other cars have them). The battery cover and hold down. The boot carpet, and a owners manual (granted its in german, but it has a nice cover). Also found the steering wheel will clean up nicely. Only the shift **** looks like it needs re-dyed or replaced.

Oh, almost forgot, I have been watching on ebay, and between the engine/gearbox, and the webasto power roof thats in it, I will more than make my money back on the car. Plus theres a company that buys scrap cars for $100 bucks on base. So if everything sells for what it should, I'll make 300 plus get a complete interior with burl wood and magnolia dials, sports pack equipment, 13" wheels & tires, plus 12" winter wheels & tires, better seats, koni shocks, front disc brakes, wheel arches, front spotlights, pair of clean bumpers, clear indicators, rear defroster (mine doesnt have it), a two speed heater, one piece carpeting in black, extra set of glass with opening rear windows, seals, lights and fuses. I'm sure theres some other bits, but sweet!
