JCW Tuning with alta cat back

I was just in contact with a couple of the people from BMW Corporate and they said the JCW Tuning Kit for the Auto Trans is still coming out. My question is

Will the JCW Kit add more power than 17hp with the alta Catback than the JCW exhaust?

My thoughts are the ECU was developed with the JCW Intake and Exhaust so adding the Alta Exhaust will not net the same additional 10hp.

I would sell the JCW Exhaust and just have the dealer install the tune and intake if I thought I would get 25 HP Rather than 17. Do you think the dealer would refuse to install the kit partially or would it affect my warranty

Hard to say, since no one has tried it. You might be the first. Post dyno charts comparing the two.

My guess is, though... that the power would be about the same... and here's why: Whith a turbo car, a free-flowing exhaust is a free flowing exhaust. If you've looked at the JCW and Alta designs, they're both using very straight designs with nice large diameter tubing. When we had the JCW off the car, you could just about blow through one end and feel it coming out the other. Shooting some pressurized air in there gave the impression that there was very little in the JCW pipe obstructing flow. The main difference IMO would be the sound quality.

Now... if you were to add the Alta DOWNPIPE to the JCW kit... you've now got a free(er?)- flowing cat (which I believe to be the biggest restriction in the system). You'll get more power there, for sure.

That's so weird that there wasn't any type of official bulletin regarding its announcement. Very cool that it's finally available. Although I got impatient waiting and chose to go the ALTA route instead.

You put the manual kit on your car

The kit that you installed on your car is for manual cars. The tuning is just air fuel, timing, and boost duration. No additional boost is running through the car so it will work. The reason they have not released it for the auto car is the kit it will not pass emissions with a auto transmission. They are working on the kit as we speak to get it to pass emissions.
