Can I order one with a roll cage???.
Bet it would be a blast!

His, Chile RED all over, Madness intake, MINI-Motorsport Airbox Mod, Magnaflow Exhaust, BMP spark plug wires, RDR rear sway bar and Helix P/D 15% reduction pulley.
Hers, EB UJ on top and BONE stock.

Don't care for it. As a matter of fact I don't care for convertibles. The MINI's signature looks are completely lost when they take away the solid "Lid" roof design. The solid roof is what makes the MINI.
I would prefer a MINI Traveller station wagon before this thing. I guess they need to compete with VW's midly successful VW Beetle Cabrio.

I totally agree! I don't like the roof at all. The MINI look is the flat smooth aero dynamic roof!
I'd love a Traveller with the double swing doors too!

  My name is on the list for one - but I hope they do something with the placement of the antenna - it looks pretty stupid where it is now

I know several people who are specifically waiting for the MINI convertible. Most of the spy shots, like this one, certainly don't look very sexy, but I'll bet it will be sweet. I'd love to see a really good photo with the top down.

Well, coming from a Miata before my Coop, I'm considering a switch. I love my Cooper S, but long for my old drop top. I've got my name in on a Cooper S "Cabrio" at the dealer.
As for the styling, I agree the antenae is gross. But looks like you could plumb it elsewhere and just have a body shop fill in the hole on the front leading edge and respray. Not too big a section so it shouldn't be expensive to do this. And just think how cool it wil be when they have a hard top available for it!!!
Oy, but the blind spot! The blind spot!!

Don't like it. The cloth top makes the roofline too short in back, and it kills the lines of the car. Top down, I'm sure it looks great (minus the antenna, of course!). And I agree with Ryan - forget about trying to switch highway lanes safely with the top up!
>>i love convertibles, but i don't think the MINI should be one
>>if any thing maybe a removel canvas full sunroof. like on the old mini's

Same here. LOVE convertibles but don't like the MINI shots of one. Looks like some type of VW cabrio when the top is up. I'd like to see maybe a 2 seater MINI roadster. That could look sweet!

Well, the obvious place to put the antenna is to embed it in the windshield (like the VW NBCs). But with the MINIs history of windshield replacement - fugetaboutit! The cost will be prohibitive!

I had heard from my dealership that there were rumors that the convertible MINI was coming out in 2005 with MC and MCS versions. It is not even certain what is coming in the 2004 model year until another month. It's all
rumors until then.
PS I would like the convertible please.
