The last one was fun, I hope to be able to go to this one, too.

I will plan on it, unless we have a fresh 5 or 6 inches of snow.

Awesome Don. It has been a long time since I have seen ya. Outlook for next week is great, so doubt there will be new snow. Tomorrow is another story though.

But snow is why i have a winter daily driver, hehe. Does not matter what car you show up in, it is just good to hang with everyone.

There will be a couple other guys there, one with a MINI, and some of my other Audi Buddies that you met last time. More will confirm as the date gets closer.

I am selling off my h-sport camber plates to one of the guys, so I am meeting him there for lunch, might as well make it a gathering Weather should be wonderful, so I will even be bringing the MINI with the new coilovers on it!!! And I have the new carbon dash and new JCW wheel with my added alcantara spoke panels on. A hint of what the new interior will be.

Sorry boss this just isn't in my neighborhood. If you ever wanted to have a gathering in the tech center I'd be glad to come by though.

See you around and good luck on your interior.

I've been looking forward to attend one of these things since I got Nilla, and was psyched to see it up my neck of the woods....until I saw the Wednesday at noon I'll be in the middle of my downtown office far away from the action. Catch you guys at the next one.

Sorry about that :(. I just have a ton of friends that still live up that way, and they can all play at lunch time...so I drive up there.

Hopefully next time you can connect with us all.

Thanks Indigo, I hope I can.

BTW, I checked out your link on the mods. Where did you get the ostrich steering wheel cover? I am looking at a leather cover as we speak. How do you like the ostrich as compared to leather and where did you get it?

I made it myself, cut the pattern and stitched it on. I do all the interior stuff on my car myself. I am currently working on a new interior, and all the ostrich panels and steering wheel and shifter boot are for sale.

I like the ostrich leather, it is different, but in person, it looks great. I just am going with standard leather, from coach, and alcantara now. Got my leather materials from an online distributer out of New York.

Truly Impressive

Sorry guys, don't mean to hijack the thread but I've been looking for a steering wheel cover for a while and never would have considered making one from scratch. As I'm sitting here mulling this over the more I like it. Indigo, any chance you'd help me out with this? Is it as simple as cutting the material to size, or is there a lot of sewwing? I seem to remember the ones I've installed before had a sewn edge so that the leather didn't tear. But that leather was pretty thin. I imagine Coach is pretty top of the line. Care to take on a protege?

I cut the pattern into one piece, and the ostrich leather was actually pretty thick, so just had a smooth edge and hand drilled holes that I measured at 1/4" intervals so I could use leather thread to tie it together on the wheel. Went slow and got it done. the overal shape is a bit tricky due to the spokes, and the angles they are at, but it can be done without too much trouble.

I would be happy to help out, but how long can you go without your steering wheel? Much easier to do when it is off the car. Also, do you have a 2 or 3 spoke wheel?

My new wheel is a 3 spoke JCW with alcantara, so I am not covering that, the coach leather will be on the dash cover and door cards, along with other alcantara, etc.

hmmmm, never thought I'd have to go without a steering wheel for days. Might make it hard to drive.... Does the wheel have to be off just for install, or is it necessary to cut and size the leather? All my past installs I have sewn on with the wheel on the car. Probably would have been easier/quicker if I took it off, but it never occured to me and was easy enough to do.

It's the three spoke (standard?) wheel with cruise control if it matters.

Back to burgers

How about scheduling another meet: same location, same time but one week later? The day after Christmas. Any takers?

Might be able to do that....I also have a GTG with my main local car club that afternoon, we are meeting for an afternoon drive and then burgers, our annual holiday gathering....but I might be able to swing in for lunch as well.

Still plan on this wednesday though.

Me and my dirty MINI will be there. See you around 11:30.

The day after Christmas might work, too. Always good for a burger and onion rings.

That was fun, some MINI folks, some Audi folks and good burgers.

Btw, stay away from the green chili side, it was served cold, I don't think the counter help has a clue.

Onion rings were good, it looked like the fries were excellent as usual.

Thanks 03 for setting this one up. Next week on or off?

I am down for next week. If it snows, I will be there in the Subaru though.

Man, I loved driving the MINI today, so happy with the new suspension.

Good seeing you too Don, always a good time.

Friday may work for most...so it is a possibility. I, however, still work weekend nights, so I spend a good portion of the day on Fridays sleeping getting ready for my night shift :( so, no go for me on Fridays.

Day after works for me unless there is 5 inches of new snow.

Fridays are a tough day, to much churn getting the weekend figured out.

Shelly, does a Tues, Wed, Thursday work for you in the future?
