..Hi all, right this might seem a bit naff to you but its something i really want to do. I went to the Max Power live yesterday and bought myself loads of stuff i have no idea how to fit. Full undercar neon kit...2 small interior neons for the footwells in the front seats..a new gear **** and some mesh.
1. Interior neons - Should be easy enough to fit them...but how the hell do i get the wiring from inside the car to the battery?? can see other wires going towards the battery but impossible to feed these new wires in the same direction.
2. The gear ****! such a pain. Have had a little read on here and it seems it should jsut pull off...however my gear **** seems to like where it is and does not want to move!! ive had about 20 people testing their strength trying topull it off but it isnt happeneing...any ideas??
3. Any ideas what so ever on how to put my new chrome mesh in place of the pants black plastic grill under the number plate would be helpful!
4. Last but not least...changing my CD player. I have read loads of guides about removing the standard CD player...but there is a screw i just cant get to. there are 2 screws on either "leg" shall we call them which i need to remove to get the cd oplayer out. On the passenger side..there is one vissible screw and one hidden by the glove compartment. Opening the glove box reveals the screw...job done. On the drivers side there is one visible screw and one hidden by the plastic surroundings of the steering wheel. any ideas how to get at that screw???

Yeah its an 03. ive only had it for 3 weeks. Cant keep myself out of it, hit 1500 miles yesterday!

 

sorry seriously rude of me...cheers for the advise! will try it on my lunch break. There isnt any risk of breaking it is there? does it come away from the steering column reasonably easily??

I found a good YANK pulled the **** off. Only, watch your mouth and face. It's very easy, I hear, to give yourself a black eye.

If you have a sunroof, someone suggested pulling from OUTSIDE the car for the leverage that will give you.

The **** is just force fitted on. Not screwed or glued or anything. Sheer brute strength is all it takes.

Neons aren't my thing, but I am equally as guilty with my own craziness. (Actually, I do like neons. My wife would REALLY kill me) Please, post pics when you get it all done!

 

Yeah Max power UK in irmingham...i nearly tripped jordan over. she was walking with her minders and i cut straight infront of her not knowing it was her...she kinda looked at me as though "do you know who i am???" at which point i raelised it was her!!! haha. She looked hot in the flesh...i have to admit im not much of a fan of hers..but when i was like a foot away from her i nearly fainted! lol.
Yeah they did have a stall they always do...everything you see there is amazing!
I saw 3 mini's all kitted up with seriously big body kits a bit liek the clio v6. REally nice. Found the perfect place for a DVD screen too...just under your switches for windows and fog lights etc. looked perfect..lose the use of ashtray and cup holder but its worth it!
One of these baby's had 2 massive NOS canisters in the back...looked the bomb!! Took loads of pictures...will get them posted asap!

 

Cheers for the advise...managed to yank it off!!! have quickly put my new one on...little flashing LED's looks quality at night!

I love neons...im a massive Fast and Furious fan! went to watch 2 Fast 2 Furious last night! it was amazing!!! the cars are soooo good! Brian had a Skyline...oh my god!!! Not quite as good as a cooper...but hey it was nice! lol

will deff get some pics up of my car when everythign is fitted!!

 

For the longest time I though auto neon was silly, but I kind of like it now. I can't wait to see pictures...

 

Just to let you all know, i should be installing the neons on Sat 19th as mi in london this sat so cant do it!

UPDATE!!! fitting the neons tonight...will get some pictures posted in the morning if all goes to plan!

 

I have green lights in the footwells and in the dome light. Looks cool at night. I've been wanting to put under body neons too. I've seen some kits that flash with the music and when you rev and stuff.

I'm also a big fan of the Fast and the Furious but I never admit it, makes you look like a rookie or seem "soft" in the racing community. I agree the skyline in 2F2F was awesome!

Hey i admit that i am a rookie! wish i wasnt but the truth is the truth! i love the fast and the furious and 2f2f! they are both quality and give you heaps of ideas for cosmetic mods!!

I got my under neon kit at a really reasonable price from the max power uk show. £70 for a red set that flash...dance with music or just stay on! cant wait to see them on!

 

i was going to go to max power live but was in gran canaria on last minute thing. my mates told me about the minis after asking you if carisma were there. they told me that the minis were made by carisma. is this true as i thought that the mini isn't exactly up there street. by the way, how is jordan not fit? ok ok, she is a bit minging when she opens her big fat mouth but i think she makes up for it in other areas.

 

i am looking forward to seeing the pictures of the minis at the maxpower event. please could you pm me when you post them otherwise i reckon i will miss them as i don't come on this site everyday. i the mean time, heres jordan. thanks.

 

An easier/safer way to get the shift **** up is to: grab it with both hands, and brace your knee under your hands. Then just lift up your leg by your toes, and only use your hands as a knee to **** interface, and you won't risk smacking yourself in the face...

FAILED!!!! no wait....failed misrably!! Mini hides its wiring and holes so well that it is next to impossible to wire up the neons! Me and two mechanic friends srtuggled for 3hrs last night and got nowhere!!! Next date we are all available it saturday so fingers crossed that i can get them done for then. Will post pictures of the Max Power Mini today!
Boyracer...yeah no worries ill PM the maxpoower mini's. Spoke to my mate last night who tookthe pics and he managed to lose all but the last 30 pics he took at max power so fingers crossed there are some of at least on of the 3 minis that were there. Quite possibly carisma had a mini...i know one was up in the ICE Village section on the sony stand...and the other was on the renault 5 stand (i called it that coz it had a quality renault 5!) which i think may have been the carisma one. not sure! and as for Jordan...when you get that close to her she aint all that! put it this way..i saw over 200 seriously hot women women there and she ranked about 100! :smile: ....a car show (doing stunts and stuff)...oh and a strip joint!!

 

Sorry to hear about your failed attempt with the neons. Good luck on the next try! Your Max Power show seems similar to all the import shows here in the states like Import Revolution and Hot Import Nights. Lots of hot cars and hot women! Wait did I hear u right, u guys got a strip joint at a car show?!?!? I need to go to that car show next year!

 

yeah the show was at the NEC arena in Birmingham, UK...which also happens to be the home of a super-strip joint called Spearmint Rhino, supposedly one of the biggest strip joints in europe (not sure how true that is!). So they have a corner of the arena cordened off so that they have a mini arena of their own. I didnt actually go in as there was more than enough free naked flesh for me outside the pay-per-view spearmint! lol.

 

The exhaust is in the way!! i cant put the back undercar neon on because i can hardly drill through the exhaust can i! ohhh not happy.
Do you think it will look ok with just the 2 side neons and the front one???

 

We've got Spearmint Rhinos here in the states too!

I'm sure it will look ok without the back neons, the MINI is so small anyways.
