Sacramento Moke owner killed in accident

Sad news. I just saw in the paper that a Peter Hollenback of Sacramento CA was killed in a hit and run freeway wreck while driving his '67 Austin Moke. I don't know if he was a NAMer, or if he was known to some of the classic owners. Sorry to hear.

I didn't know him but my condolences go out to his family.

That truly is a shame.

Could be why he was killed... I wonder if the person who hit him has been caught yet? and why he hit him in the first place. Gawking at the car maybe?

wow. You just scared the crap out of me. I have a good friend from high school named Peter Hollenbeck. Really close. I called him to make sure he was ok. Still sad to hear that though... :\ RIP

This brings out my greatest fear about my Mini. I try to stay off the highway for this very reason. My condolences.

I'm a friend of Peter Hollenback's, although not a mini motorer. I just saw this post when looking for information online about Pete's tragic death.

Here's the Sacramento Bee story on the accident: http://www.sacbee.com/101/story/540657.html

Attached is a picture of Pete with the Austin Moke from July 2007.

He was a great guy. Never married but was the family member who took care of his elderly mother.

He didn't usually drive the Moke on Highway 50, only surface streets. He was well aware of the the dangers involved driving it on a freeway, so I don't know why the decision to drive it there on December 4th.

RIP, Peter. RIP.
