If anyone has personal experience with both systems, I would greatly appreciate your comparison, comments, opinions, etc. I'm narrowed my choices down to these two because of their free flow design and mandrel bends. The Scorpion appears to have a significant price advantage over Borla and a larger exhaust tip. However, I'm still leaning slightly towards the Race Borla for it's perported aggressive sound and performance advantages. Help anyone?

I think the Borla would be the best bet...that is what I am going with when I upgrade my exhaust...

The Borla sport will be much easier to get in the US. The sound is supposed to be very aggressive like a V-8 or as close to it as one can get out of a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder MINI. Performance has not been confirmed on Dyno yet but should be OK. Better than the regular Borla (which isn't that great). Unknown if it is as good as the Magnaflow.

Check over at MINI2.com for info on the scorpion with pictures

for videos see

I'm not sure that the price would be so good compared to the Borla sport. Shop around

Well, from the looks of Magna Flow's design, it appears too restrictive for long term mods involving higher engine outputs. I don't see many "T" intersections on race tracks I do like it's sound great though.

Barvarian Autosport has them for just over $495 bucks compare to Turner's motorsport Race Borla at something like $670, around $175 diff, that's why I'm torn deciding between the two--if the scorpion sounds as loud and agreesive as the Borla, I'd save some money and go with scorpion

i have had hks/blitz exhausts on my cars before, and i know magnaflow/borla/hamann they are brand name products

is scorpian a brand name product? thanks for the quick replies, sir

I believe Scorpion exhaust is a solid brand. They appear to have a reputation for motorcycle exhaust systems. Other's have purportedly shown links to Play-Mini's systems which appears to identical to the Scorpion that Turner Motorsport is selling.

I wish someone out there could give a descriptive difference between the Borla Race and Scorpion. Loudness is so subjective. I'm different in that I prefer "louder" systems but not to the point of obnoxious. I've heard from Randy that the Borla Race is almost as loud as the Magna Flow (which appears to be the benchmark for "loud" exhaust). While other's have described the Scorpion to be nearly as quiet as stock....too timid for me

My Scorpion should be here by the ninth. I will let everyone know what I think as soon as I get it mounted.

Hey Silver,

Magnaflow supports virtually all "race-modified wannabes" and their company has only one motto "To exceed all others in performance", nuff said. Good luck.

Darksky,
Sounds like my situation...my MCS arrived in port NY 7-1 and was released from VPC 7-7. I'm hoping to get mine Friday too

For anyone who's interested, I've just came back from my test run with the Borla Race and I'm pretty happy. Although, for all the talk about them being too loud or such....I disagree. I could use more volume.

The assembly was very precise and I liked the fact that IT IS IN MULTIPUL PIECES. The original is one piece and came down on me like a brick!!

Good to hear Silver. I can't wait to put mine on threre and see how it sounds. I think a pulley would make it louder...
