On Wednesday, a small group of us went to Englishtown dragway in NJ. Lotsa fun was had by all, including watching some tube-framed muscle car run 6.9 @ 196 mph.

Anyway, I didn't quite break my personal record, but despite the 80F + heat, I came within 0.02s and found the Azenis and my new MTH chip worked great. Here's some graphs:

I encourage everyone who mods their car to give drag racing a try. It's cheap, it's not THAT hard on your car (really, it isn't) and it's a ton of fun talking with fellow gearheads of all varieties.

I'm using prototype BiM-COM software to log time, individual wheel speeds, and upstream and downstream air pressure.:

Once the software is ready for prime time, we'll be advertising here, as well as signing on distributors. Here's a log I did a while ago showing individual wheel speeds:

Didn't offend me at all, I just wanted to bug you on Mark's behalf, he seems like a pretty shy guy. ops:

Anyway, sampling is pretty fast, no idea on pricing yet except it should be very affordable.

I'm also very interested, Andy. I'd also like to talk to you about getting some OBDII - serial port cables. I'm trying to figure out a way to include some cables and send the link to the interface software to be able to give folks that want the EVOTech software the ability to flash it themselves.

Give me a call if you get a chance so I can discusss it with you.

Thanks,
Randy

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun at the dragstrip! We spent the day yesterday at the roadcourse doing some testing and comparisons with the Mini Mania Stage II kit, the Hartge kit and my car. Our times were a little longer than yours - 1:22s!

He had a "Baaaaaad experience" (See the new IJ movie)
The phone isn't as good as the press would have you believe.
If you call and get an answering machine you never know if your message made it.
If the message capacity of the machine is maxed out then you get nothing.
Email works 24/7 and very well when people check regularly or in the middle of the night or across many time zones. It doesn't work well if each day you get 300 emails to review and answer.
So I say combine them with iChat AV software and isight

andy-
Great driving and graphs, Thanks for sharing.
You are an inspiration for the rest of us slow reaction lead footed drivers.
Got a question on technique.
For the quarter mile in a MINI. What is the "best" technique for rapid off the line and clean starts?
With little or minimal wheel spin (No DSC is good I know).

I brought the digital camera out with me to englishtown last night. I just hing out since my mini isn't here and I didn't want to break anything on the VW before I traded it in. Still had a blast though. It was great meeting Andy, Eric, Jeff, and Mooger anyway here are the pics, I'll let them fill you in on their times

mmm supra...this guy was trapping in the 125mph range...gorgeous car

RUKnight,

Have any side shots of the CR/W mini with the black wheels? I'd thought about doing that--it looks sweet!

Tis good to see that Eric was out having some fun at the track instead of being home at Helix installing pulleys. BTW, your MINI's look fantastic among the ricers.

HARMINI,

You should hit the track with us sometime. It'd be interesting to see how the CVT does. You can also help with the 50:1 testosterone:estrogen ratio.

randy,

i am interested in what you discovered in your tests. i am looking at the jcw kit rather than after market upgrades, mainly because of convenience (i don't have my mcs until the end of the month and would have it added before i pick it up) and warranty issues. also i am not a mechanic so would be relying on finding good, honest mechanics to help me. the minimania stage 2 is my first choice at this point, i am in california.
please advise, thanks.

Nope no side shots...sorry. The car looked awesome though, really mean with the black 15's.

As for the rice comment there, there wasn't any in those pics, that white supra was trapping in the 125mph range....that's really fast, looked like it had at least a T66 on it. There were lots of musclecars and of course there is always the 17 second civic with bleacher seat for a wing and fart can but there is usually some nice cars out at the strip!

That looks to be the Helix MINI with tha latest in mods - a bag of ice on the intercooler. I'm sure the bag is actually perfect for those short 1/4 mile runs. It would be rather hairy for any extended trips though.
