Do You Think This Guy Will Sell This Mini on eBay?

It made it up to 19k but expired and it appears he had to relist it.
Going for $40,990.

Other than the strut brace, lowering springs, rear wing, antenna and vinyl work, everything else looks like it came from MINI. Has anyone run this through the configurator to see how much the factory-equivalent would cost? I bet we can make some pretty good estimates for the non-factory parts.

THe problem here is that someone with a $40k budget for a MINI probably wants to enjoy the process of selecting options and accessories.

This is a car that will likely only sell to someone who does not really know MINI's and can make a $40k impulse purchase.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Mini's but I don't see why anyone would spend $40k on one. You could buy a lot of other cars for that price that are faster, bigger and some handle well also. That car is one sick looking MINI and if it was $30k I would think go for it....but $40k? holy crap.

for example:

hmm no sport package (no xenons = no sport)
no premium package (no sunroof = no premium)
no convienence package (no auto windshield wipers = no conv)

what else is missing that should be on a MINI at that price range?

Well, to be fair, the M roadster you linked to is one model year old, with 13k+ miles, rather than the MINI, which is a current model and only has 25 miles on it.

But I know where you're coming from. When I was looking for a small convertible, I narrowed it down to either a new well-optioned MINI, a year-old Lotus Elise, or a year-old Porsche Boxster 'S', all for about the same price. I went with the MINI and have never regretted it for a minute.

Can you tell from the console pictures whether it has the controls for the heated seats? In might not have the Cold Weather package either.

from the ebay listing: If Oxford were to build a factory JCW model this would be the one!
Actually, they will build a factory JCW. They will build one for me and this will NOT be the one.

My local dealer had an 06 similar to this sitting on their lot for about 6 months. They, too, were asking way too much.

I just tried to duplicate this guy's car in the configurator, and couldn't get the price above $35k. That doesn't include the side stripes, the strut brace, antenna or lowering springs, though.

Also, that $35k didn't include the dealer installation costs for some of the accessories, but even so, I think the seller needs to switch to name-brand crack instead of the stuff he's been smoking.

The "seller" is a dealer and the lister is an MA. This sale would be like buying a new car off the dealer lot.

But that car has no trunk space and no back seats for others to enjoy the ride as well.

Maybe they do know mini's and want to get the best they can possibly put into the mini instead of doing it later like many other people are doing.

I noticed some posters get bare bones mini's and later mod the heck out of it. No difference...just someone doing it upfront. 5k worth of tires and wheels. Tuned engine for 1k - 2k. Painting the arches. Restriping. Suspension changes and lowering.

I really see no difference.

And BMW gave a consumer an option to really mod their car up front. I think thats great. Most car companies don't allow that.
Look at the number of wheel selections you get to choose from. What car companies do that?

Except that in this case, you can walk into any dealership and order a new MINI with everything that's on this car except for the lowering springs, strut brace, antenna and vinyl side stripes, and still come in $4-5k less than their "Buy It Now" price.

Now maybe their reserve price is closer to the $36k it would take to order this car yourself, but I doubt it.

My Dad has a Z4 Roadster, my older bro has an R53 MCS, the Z4 can hold my guitar, the Mini has to put the seats down. As far as the backseat goes.....are the people in the back of the Mini really comfortable? didn't think so haha.

Anyway the car is for me to enjoy, sod my passengers haha

As P.T. Barnum used to say...

"There's a sucker born every minute" Question is, is it the buyer...or the seller?

No JCW rear diffuser and for $50 they could have got the stripes like the Challenge car. These are too skinny.

I just don't see any comparison. 2 door sports car vs a multipurpose 4 seater hatchback.
Compare apples with apples.

I do agree that this car on ebay is probably built for 32k-37k give or take. I would also say a large number of people on this forum have bought their mini specked above 30k. Just a comfortable spec of the mini is about 25 to 26k with above barebone add ons...so its not hard to get well over 30k.

The 5k markup is definitely a dealer markup.

South Florida!!!!

ah the memories....

buying cars in south Florida in the 80's!!!

are you paying cash...no, not a check, green cash...no, don't bother us...

excuse me I'm looking for this car in blue.....

don't waste my time, that's what we have...if you don't want it, leave.....

everything was marked thousands over MSRP .... "limited availability" and/or all the two-bit crap they bolted on

living in south Miami we drove to Orlando or West Palm to buy cars

Kind of pricey at 40k. Nice looking but definitely not a car for me, I like to pick what goes onto my car.
