Which Engine is Most Trouble Free?

The MC with the automatic transmission or the MCS with the automatic transmission?

IMHO, the only difference is the transmission, than the question becomes "which transmission is most reliable?" IMHO, a manual transimission is more reliable than an authomatic transmission.

First year production model for both. Haven't really seen that much "uh-oh" on either. Nothing is bullet-proof, but, turbo or not, both seem to be well built.

I wouldn't worry.

You've got 50K mile warranty to figure out if the engine or transmission is junk.

If they have to do any major repairs twice under warranty, sell the car when the time comes.

My apologies, Imissed the part that the mc was automatic and the mcs was manual. So, time will tell which one is more durable, but the MCS is definately more fun.

My MCS manual has been problem-free @ 5900 miles.
I often run it hard. Very hard. The ultimate test will be running hard at the track for 20 minutes non-stop. If the car doesn't overheat and go limp mode like BMW 335i, then I will say .

MCS manual, 12,000 miles, no problems of any kind. One exception was a clip that holds the interior trim on the hatch was loose and allowed the material to pull away from the hatch. It was repaired under warranty. My car continues to feel solid. It makes no sounds that it should not make and remains a very fun car to drive, and also a car that gets a lot of positive comments.
Generally speaking, a less powerful motor will put less stress on the drive train. But, it appears that the drive train is designed to accomodate the power of the MCS.
cheers,
Joe
