R56 Front Seats and Access to Rear Seats
Front Seats and Access to Rear Seats
Dear NAMsters,
We've had our '07 MCS for about one and a half weeks now and are still learning things about it. [We keep finding things that we love about the car.]
Our owner's manual states (on page 29) that the lever on the front seats tilts the backrest forward, then the seats slide forward to allow easier access to the rear seats.
On our MCS, I've tested both seats and while the backrests tilt, the seats don't slide forward.
At this point, I'm trying to figure out whether this is a "feature" (some aspect of a option/package that we ordered) or a "defect" (something broken requiring repair).
We ordered the Hyper Sport and Premium packages. The seats are the Grey/Carbon Black Leatherette.
Any comments? Thank you, in advance.
Bruce

Sometimes you have to give them a push in the right direction, especially if its new.
Pull the lever and have the seat back go all the way forward, then kinda force it to slide forward. After you do it a few times it will get easier.
If not, take it in, but i've never heard of a seat not sliding.

Although we have R50/R53 seats in our cars, there are TWO levers on each seat. The inside lever just does the tilt but the one reachable from the open door does both the tilt and move forward. After it tilts completely, it will then move forward with a push.
As TurboBlu said, they are stiff and you have to give it a strong push (+1 as twin scroll put it). It also helps if you push on the seats lower down (not on the backrest). So you guys are correct. Our seats are stiff (because they're new) but they do move.
THANK YOU!

Lever seems like the wrong term for this release. It is on the back of the seat at the top near the door. It is a flush release that you put your fingers into and pull a flat plate out (towards the back of the car). Tilt the seat forward and then slide it forward.
If you slide it back as far as it will go before tilting the back up, it will return to its original position. If you tilt the back up first, you have lost the original setting.
