Who is secretly wishing that the turbo would go bad?

before the warranty is up and that the dealer will offer you to have the bigger turbo (JCW II) installed for $3000 instead of full $6000 under warranty instead of the original turbo? Wouldn't that be nice?

Don't hold you breath...

as you'll go blue....

Here's an example. I had a head unit go bad under warranty. I asked if I could pay a delta, nope. We just replace with the same part. If you want an upgrade, you have to buy the new one at full price! Yikes!

This would probably only work if the JCW factory kit was also available as a dealer installed kit which I don't think is supposed to happen.

The future existence of the new kit is the reason I am holding off to order my new MINI.

No, but a warranty repair for your turbo will result in a replacement turbo, not a gift certificate or store credit towards an upgrade.

But it is a nice little dream though, isn't it?
