I have received several inquiries about the casino run over to Lake Charles, LA.
Here is a little bit of information:

• Depart on Saturday morning, January 26th at 9 AM from the Baytown, TX Starbucks on Garth Rd and I-10 East.
• The route will be along the coast up through Cameron, LA and onto Lake Charles, LA.
• THREE casino stops.
  a. L’Auberge du Lac Casino Resort, Lake Charles
  b. Isle of Capri Casino, Westlake, LA
  c. Coushatta Casino Resort, Kinder, LA
• We will have lunch at L’Auberge.
• The time at each casino can vary but I would like to limit the time at L’Auberge and Isle of Capri to two to three hours.
• The Coushatta Casino Resort over in Kinder we can plan to stay longer (All Night). If there is any entertainment performing of interest we can make arrangements to see the entertainment for those interested.
• A block of rooms have been blocked off at Koasati Pines Lodge at Coushatta, with a rate of $89 plus tax. You must make your reservation prior to January 18th if you wish to take advantage of this rate. The block of rooms will be released on January 18th. The block is under MiniFunDrives.com (Group # 1908). You can contact:

• Depart from Kinder, LA on Sunday morning to head back to Houston.
• The Louisiana to Houston Route will consist of some back roads out of Louisiana and then pick I-10 back up near the Texas / Louisiana state line where we will take a more direct route back to Houston. We will stop at I-10 and Hwy 146 to gas up and say go separate ways.

Because of the Casino aspect of this trip you need to take into account the age limitations for Casinos. I suggest you visit each of the Casino website to see what children activities are available. They all have areas for kids if you decide to bring children or you can’t contain your own inner child self.

The weekend of January 26th is the weekend before Superbowl Sunday!

Anyone from the Louisiana / Lake Charles / Kinder areas that has knowledge of the back roads any help would be appreciated! I drove the route along the coast and pretty much have a good idea of how we will get to Lake Charles.

The route back needs some planning.

for those that have been sitting on the fence, not sure if you could take two days to spend with your MINI friends, you aren't alone! There are several that are going to do the drive and atleast two of the casinos on Saturday then head back to Houston afterwards.

So even if you don't want to spend the night at the last stop, please think about still going. it will be a fun ride! We will be meeting at 9 AM at Starbucks in baytown at garth rd and i -10 this Saturday!!

 

Oh, and we have plans to meet up with the Gulf South motoring group. I think we have a spot all picked up to meet up at. I'm out of town this week but will be back in town the night before the drive!
