Tire Rack Caliper Paint Kit?

Does anyone have experience using this kit?

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/g2/caliper_paint.jsp

Their website indicates:

"Our experience indicates that a PaintSystem Set provides sufficient materials to paint 4 brake calipers, or 2 brake calipers and 2 brake drums. However vehicles with large brake calipers on the front axle and large brake drums on the rear axle may require two complete PaintSystem Sets to assure adequate coverage."

I'd like to paint both the hubs and the calipers. Has anyone does this to their Mini with just a single kit? I'm going silver, hoping it's similar to the stock look just to keep the rust off.

I used it on CRX. I used the $10 Duplicolor kit from the local autoparts store on my MINI. Seems to work just as well

Is there enough paint for the calipers and the hubs in one kit?

buy two, open one.....see how far it goes. I only did my rear calipers (front are JCW), so, there might be enough. It's a small can.

There's enough in the G2 kit to do four calipers and the hats... or at least there seemed to be when I did my calipers. Lots left over. There's only an inch or two of paint in the can, but it goes a LONG way...

What is the color match (code) for the JCW front calipers?

I ended up using the Duplicolor kit today. My local Napa was able to order the kit and have it the next morning. I got 2 kits.

That little can of paint goes a LONG way. I've done all 4 calipers and hubs, 2 coats...only used 1/4" out of the can.

I went with silver so they don't stand out. I like when you look at the wheels you don't really notice the calipers or hubs. I wanted to keep that same look but keep the parts, especially the hub, from rusting. Not really concerned with the part behind the wheel, just what is visible through the web-spokes.

Application is super easy once you've cleaned everything up. The paint goes on very thin but dries rock hard (must be the ceramic in it). I don't have the wheels back on yet, but a couple shots. I still have to clean up the edge between the disc and hub (ie, straighten out the dips in the paint line).

color match? red.

the rear calipers are small in comparison and lacking a big solid surface so they tend to disappear even when painted red

I used the G2 kit and was able to get multiple coats on all 4 calipers and rotors with paint left over. But I found that the front rotors would not stand the heat of a track day and the front rotor painting burned off. Just replace the rotors with the zinc coated ones and no more rust problem

Yeah we'll see how it goes. Cross drilled would look nice in there.

I think they came out pretty good. The silver color is very similar to the wheels. Except for that rust along the edge of the rotor, they look very clean. Blend in nicely.
